as the meter needle will have sluggish to very sluggish movement (and are
not very serviceable if that is the case). This is one of about 30 we have
come across that has no 'sluggishness' to the needle movement (good
question to ask when you're looking at a 'cheaper' one on an online auction).

units. Very well ventilated. Can be mounted to a panel from the inside, or
left free-standing. Output bolts are 1/4". Shaft should have knob
installed. It's diameter is 3/4", and it protrudes 1 1/4" from the
front. Unit diameter is 8" at it's widest point, and 7" tall not
counting the shaft. The variac weighs 26 lbs.

I used these Teac TO-122A Test Tone generators for years in the field as a
Tascam dealer. I always had one in my tool box for testing Pro-Audio sound
systems in clubs and churches. I used them to detect signal paths and look
for anomalies in room acoustics at different frequencies. They're also great
for setting levels on input gains and for leveling power meters. They have
many other uses as well. Small package runs off a standard 9-volt battery.
Fixed 1/4" out. Frequencies are selectable 40Hz, 400Hz, 1kHz, 4kHz, 10kHz
and 15kHz. Levels are selectable between -10 or -40dB. Unit works perfectly
and looks great. LED to show power on. Easy 2-screw battery change if you
accidentally leave it on or just need to change the battery. Unit is small
enough to fit in your tool box measuring only 3 1/8" wide x 2.5" deep x 1.5
tall. These are no longer available from Teac new.

tube tester from Accurate Instrument Company. Small and light. Very simple
to operate. Great for intermediate shop / hobbyist. Tests for shorts,
leakage and quality of emission. Great for Radio / Audio work. We have
completely cleaned all the switches and pots. We tested the following tubes
consistently with our calibrated, shop B&K 747B tester (12AU7, 12AT7, 12AX7,
6L6, 6V6, 6BQ5 / EL84 & 6W4). Has built-in tube pin straightener. Comes with
copy of original manual / tube chart / schematic. Works great and looks near
new. It is ready to go.

to work well. Should be completely gone through and calibrated, prior to use. Unit measures 11.5" wide x 8" tall x

switches, or you don't have much experience using tube testers. Unit has
new 6AT6 and #83 tubes installed, along with new filter caps. All other
internal components checked and / or replaced where necessary. Tube chart
glued into lid, but sockets have test info for most tubes silk screened
next to them. Has optional 510 expansion module installed. Works and
tests consistent with our calibrated shop B&K 747B. Unit clean. Case

Has been gone through and has all contacts and controls cleaned. New AC
cord installed. Test results comparable to you shop calibrated B&K
747B. (Tested was 6L6, 5Y3, and 12AX7). Unit is clean with only normal
wear to case. Cap pigtail intact. No cracked or chipped sockets or knobs.
Meter window in great shape! Built-in handle doubles as a leaning stand.
Tube chart, assembly instructions, operating instructions, and schematic
included and fits in rear of unit for storage. No internal tubes required.

These were and are one of the best bench top variable AC power supplies
ever. We have had one for years and would never sell it. This is one we
acquired recently. Everything works well. It has a rough spot on the
voltage control at around 120 volts from being overheated, but still works
and checks fine. The internal lacquer at that spot is blackened, but the
voltage still increases at a steady rate when checked with an analog
voltage meter. It has two amperage ranges, 1 amp and 3 amps. There are
separate, front mounted fuses for both ranges. There are two front mounted
AC outlets. One for Variable and Isolated output from 0-140 VAC. The other
is a non-isolated, fixed 120 (or whatever you are putting in) output. Both
meters work perfectly. This will prove to be one of the most used items on
your work bench.

Our favorite tester. We have one we have used for years and keep
calibrated. Since it's solid state you don't have to worry that it's
internal tubes have drifted. (Will not test early 4-pin or Acorn style
tubes, but will test all popular and modern (post mid 40's) tubes).
Features include:
- "Jet Check" testing section for very quick testing of select
tubes
- Programmed Testing
- Dynamic Testing
- Tests High Voltage Regulators with proper current (dynamic test injects
a signal voltage into the Grid and another much higher voltage is applied
to the plate at the same time)
- Shorts Test (leakage paths up to 1 megohm and leakage as low as .5
microampere.
- Grid Emission Tests (tests up to 100 megohms)
- Life Test (tests tubes remaining reserve or life expectancy)

Hickok tube testers are recognized as the more "serious" tube
checkers that were available. Not a good tester for the novice or beginner
to use as they are complicated to operate / utilize to their fullest, but
if you're used to working with tubes / test gear or have a working
knowledge of Hickok's then you will love it. With the exception of the
case (see photo collage) this one is in great shape. We have given it a
"lite" going over, checking internal caps, testing internal
tubes, cleaning contacts, "tweaking" tube chart for easier
rolling and given it a good cleaning overall. We then spot checked a few
different tubes with results consistent with our calibrated
"shop" B&K 747B (747B - easy to use, but no where near the
level of gear the 752 Hickok is). Does include a copy of the manual /
schem in addition to the internal tube chart. Measures 19" x 17"
x 8" (closed" and weighs 23 lbs unpacked.
