PANASONIC BALL / CHAIN RADIO

PANASONIC R-70 AM RADIO
IN RED

Circa 1972
for sale

We have gone though this radio inside and out. Radio was disassembled and the volume control was cleaned for static free operation. Radio works great now. Dial moves with no binding. Chain and key ring is rust free. Battery compartment had no sign of past battery leakage.
Radio tunes very well on AM and sounds great.

Again, we have completely gone though this radio, including cleaning it to VERY CLEAN condition. Photos appear to be more 'orange' than "red", but that's the lighting. It's "RED"!

Cosmetically, there's just a bit of 'rash' from the chain (see photo   ). Battery compartment clean with no signs of past corrosion. Chain perfect and intact with no rust. No cracks, chips, stains or breaks. Radio looks great with only minor, normal wear. Works fine with standard 9-volt battery. This is a classic, "must have" for radio collectors. We've had a half dozen of these over the past 25 years, but is only the second we've had in "red".
Measures 4.25" in diameter and weighs ~ 0.5 lb unpacked.
Includes our standard 90 day limited warranty.

It's all a matter of taste: Some old 'radios' can be repurposed / re-designed as 'Steampunk' projects.

Many of their parts such as tubes, knobs, dials etc are from the "Machine Age" with a very 'Industrial' look to them. We may even use a few for some 'Steam Punk' projects around here.

SONY
ALARM CLOCK / RADIO
SONY ICF-A10W BLACK
VIVALDI "FOUR SEASONS"
ALARM CLOCK / RADIO
Circa 1980's

We have gone though this radio inside and out. All audio controls cleaned for static free operation. Radio works great on FM, but we weren't able to pickup much on the AM band. Clock tests out and it functions well (yes, we tested the alarm (in both modes) and the 'Snooze' function).
We have actually been using it ourselves for an extended period of time and it always works well.
Radio tunes very well on FM and sounds great.

SONY ICF-A10W Features;

- Analog AM & FM radio tuner (again, we didn't get much in the way of AM)
- Huge, dial and EASY to set, 12-Hour alarm (just turn the front dial to the time)
- Small, 'momentary' back-light for the dial

- Dual, independent alarm settings allows for two different alarm times and each are selectable between radio or plays Vivaldi's "Four Seasons"
-
1-Hour "Sleep" function (plays radio for an hour, then automatically turns Off)
- 3x Standard AA batteries. Two for the radio and one for the clock.
- Jack for optional 3V, AC power adaptor (not included, nor available from us)
- Has jack for external FM antenna wire, but didn't need it to pick-up any of the stations we normally get here in Colorado Springs, Co. (If you need more distance, you can 'stick' any type of wire into the jack to improve reception)

Again, we have completely gone though this radio, including cleaning it to VERY CLEAN condition. Cosmetically, there's a few lite scuffs / scratches to the bottom / back and some dull spots on the battery compartment cover, but that's about it. Battery compartment clean with no signs of past corrosion.
Measures 4.25" wide x 4.5" tall x 3.25" deep and weighs ~ 0.5 lb unpacked.

GRUNDIG
SIGNAL 700
DX / SHORT-WAVE
WORLD AM / FM RADIO

These Grundig Signal 700 analog radios are great performing units. This one, unfortunately has a couple of problems. The volume control will not turn the unit all the way down. It stays pretty loud, even at it's lowest. Secondly the battery compartment door is missing. It still has AC capabilities and comes with the detachable AC cord. Disappearing antenna is in perfect working order, swivels and telescopes to over 2 feet!. Also includes jack on the side panel for connection of a tape deck or turntable via DIN cable. Bands are:
LW
MW (AM)
SW BAND 1
SW BAND 2
FM -- 86.5-108 MHZ
There is an 1/8" mini headphone jack.  With this feature you can connect the radios' output up to a stereo input, PA, sound system or anything that has an audio input.  You could even record from this jack. For AC operation it uses an external power supply (included). For DC (battery) operation it takes 4 X C cells.  We have completely gone through the radio cleaning all the controls and contacts and the entire chassis. The radio looks good, and with the exception of the above mentioned volume control issue, works perfectly. We do not have a manual, but it's very straight forward to operate and again does include the AC adaptor.

PROTON ALARM CLOCK / RADIO
PROTON 320 WHITE
ALARM CLOCK / HI-FI RADIO
Circa 1984-91

SOLD

We have gone though this radio inside and out. All audio controls cleaned for static free operation. We also installed a new radio scale dial lamp as any radio from this time period will have this either burned out, or is not long from it. We have not seen a Proton 320 that did not and certainly will not need this done. It's about an hour procedure to change it, so be aware of that if you get one that has it out, otherwise it is difficult to see the tuning scale. Radio fully tests out and all functions perfect. We have actually been using it ourselves for an extended period of time and it always works flawlessly. Radio tunes and sounds great.

I worked for a Proton dealer and sold these when they were new. The Proton 320, digital Alarm clock, analog tuner radio. The main strong point on the 320 is it's exceptionally, VERY HIGH QUALITY tuner for reception on both FM & AM bands and HUGE sound for such a small box. Since it's analog, and Proton quality, it just works!

 Features;

 - Analog AM & FM radio tuner
 - Fluorescent Digital Clock and full readout display
 - Separate Bass and Treble controls (unheard of on an alarm clock)
 - 5" full range speaker for "Hi-Fi" like sound (it really is incredible)
 - Dual, independent alarm settings allows for two different alarm times and each are selectable between radio or buzzer
 - Battery backup (standard 9 volt) holds the clock / calendar memory when the power goes out or is disconnected
 - Auto display dimmer senses room ambient light
(works to varying degrees depending on ambient light)

The following is excerpted from Protons web site:

 http://www.proton-usa.com/history.asp.htm

"In 1982, PROTON unveiled its highly acclaimed Table Radio, the P300, better known in the market, as “The Radio,” and its self powered extension speaker, the P301. These sleek, all black products were so unique and provided such good sound that the public quickly embraced them. The Radio received a Consumer Electronics Design and Engineering Award and was named one of Rolling Stone magazine’s top products of the year. 1982 was also the year that PROTON taught the world there was a better way to wake-up in the morning with the introduction of the 320 clock radio, which became known as “The Clock Radio.” Both the 300 and 320 are still benchmarks for the quality consumer as well as the consumer electronics industry."

I have one of these in white that I use in our kitchen. I listen to a lot of AM talk radio, and it's very difficult to get a modern radio that has even a decent AM tuner in it, let alone sonics that aren't painful to listen to. These Protons WORK!
Again, we have completely gone though this radio, including cleaning it to like new condition. Measures 11.5" wide x 5.5" tall x 3.5" deep and weighs 5 lbs unpacked. Includes our standard 90 day limited warranty.
