8mm FILM PROJECTORS
SUPER-8 FILM PROJECTORS
REFURBISHED W/ 90 DAY WARRANTY!

8mm & Super-8 Film movie Projectors that have been refurbished / repaired with a warranty. Super & Regular 8mm Movie / Film Projectors (Sometimes referred to as 'Reel to Reel Film' projectors). Empty Take-up Reels for sale. Also Super 8mm film hub adaptors with take-up reels. Restored, refurbished, repaired Projectors occasionally by Telex, B&H Bell & Howell, Singer, Kodak, Elmo, Chinon, Sankyo and others. Also 8mm film cameras by Bauer S 715 XL. Film projectors for copying / converting / dubbing film to video DVD or VHS.

We fully test each projector offered for sale. We use film that is in good shape, with sprocket holes that are not worn. Each projector is checked for belt / drive condition, frame sync, bulb / lamp(s) condition, switching condition, focus, Sound quality (where applicable), AC safety, excess transport noise and overall function. Each is cleaned and lubed where necessary. Projector should be "ready to go" when you receive it, however film projectors are complicated machines and film can be very fragile, especially older film (and most of it is). Always check your films sprocket holes for quality. Worn, deformed, torn, stretched sprocket holes and warped film will cause problems when playing back which typically manifests itself in shutter glitches and noise. The problems may only last a frame or can last seconds or indefinitely if the film is in really bad shape. (Probably 70-80% of our test films have sprocket hole issues.) Also double check the loading and always go slow and load carefully, as that is when most problems happen. While our projectors are warranted for their basic function, we cannot guarantee that you will always get glitch free viewing and that films will not break and be "eaten", especially during the loading process. It doesn't happen often, in fact rarely, but we all remember watching school films and the teacher having to stop and splice, rewind or further adjust the film and projector to continue.

Regular-Standard 8mm / SUPER-8mm Take-up Reels with Regular-8 Hub adaptors
for sale

We just found a source for some German made Plastic, Super-8mm take-up reels with Regular-8mm hub adaptors. These reels will fit any 8mm projector as they can be used without the hub adaptor for Super 8 film projectors and with the hub adaptor for Regular-Standard 8mm film projectors. The reels are new and will have no warping like about 50% of the older, vintage reels still in existence. They also feature "film grabbing" so if your projector is 100% auto-load, the reels will load themselves. Each reel has a capacity of 400' and comes with a case and an adaptor.

SEKONIC 8mm
REGULAR-8 FILM PROJECTOR
MODEL SEKONIC 30-J
SILENT
 VARIABLE SPEED
 STANDARD 8mm
ZOOM LENS
MANUAL / SEMI-AUTO LOADING
#...0414

"WORLD AC POWER"
 Made in Japan

SOLD 10/11/11

VERY WELL BUILT, all metal construction, Sekonic, model '30-J', Regular 8mm movie film / cine projector. This is a very well designed projector, that was meant to last. Since it has variable speed (widely ranging), and a zoom-lens it is well suited for doing 'film to video transfers'. Original Japanese made, 'S-Resonar-Zoom' Lens; specs 1:1.5 w/ f-15-25 zoom range. Lens is 'cloud free', clean and is quality enough to project a crisp, clean, clear and focused image, even to a majority of the image edges (most 'home' grade projectors start to 'fall off' pretty quickly towards the image edges, due to low quality optics in the lens). Projector will play forwards or backwards (no still and film must 'play thru to end' to enable 'fast wind' mode). Has frame-adjust lever for fine tuning frame position. Utilizes model DCA 21.5 volt, 80 watt projection lamp
(Fresh one installed prior to shipment).

Features:

- Regular / Standard 8mm, silent film Projector
- Electronic Variable Speed
- 'Semi-Auto / Manual Loading' (that works great)
- Ultra-Bright 'Resonar' Zoom Lens - f=/1.5, Zoom 15-25mm
- Forward or Reverse Projection
- Can be run without lamp (useful for 'playing out reel' without burning lamp life)
- Accommodates up to 400' reels
- DCA 21.5 V / 150 watt bulb / lamp (may also use lamps; DEF / DCF)
- 'Take-up' Reel included
- Built-in Film Trimmer
- Adjustable 'Front Tilt / Angle' Foot
- Very durable 'Toggle switch' controls
- Single Frame advance knob
- 'Swing-Out' lens housing for easy film gate cleaning
- 'Room Light' outlet
- All metal housing
- High Power, 'Turbine' cooling fan prolongs film life and protects film
  - True “WORLD AC POWER"™
as it will work on both 50 or 60 Hz AC and voltages from 110-240 volts AC

Front adjustment foot allows for ~1.5" of height angle adjustment. Very well built, 'all metal' construction. We have completely gone through this projector. It was approximately 80% disassembled internally for restoration including the drive motor for re-lubing. Both hubs had the shafts pulled, cleaned and re-lubed (prior to that they are almost always frozen due to "varnished" lube). Hub clutch, completely dismantled, cleaned and re-lubed. This particular model utilizes very smartly designed clutches which is about the best design and virtually trouble-free with their fresh cleaning and lube. Motor disassembled, cleaned and bushings lubed. Main drive belt and both hub drive belts replaced with new. The main drive worm / cog gears cleaned and re-lubed. We checked out all functions and made any necessary adjustments. Only minor issue with unit is that when 'rewinding' longer films, it get's a bit sluggish towards the end and may need to be 'helped' along with larger reels (fairly common issue with a variety of machines, regardless of restoration). There are no rubber drive tires / wheels to crack, glaze or deteriorate, so no need to worry about one failing down the road. Should service be required in the future (probably not for a few years), this unit is designed to be very 'serviceable'. Speed control is via the built-in rheostat. A very durable design. Again, this unit had extensive restoration (about 7 hours) and came out GREAT!!! This unit is ready to go. Looks and works great! This would be a good "work horse" for a film transfer house. This one includes the original case, box and accessories. Comes with a metal take-up reel, a copy of the instruction manual, as well as a NEW / FRESH DCA 21.5V / 150 Watt projection lamp. Also includes our standard 90 day limited warranty (excluding lamps / bulbs). Measures 10" wide x 7" deep x 11" tall (with film arms folded) and weighs ~13 lbs unpacked. Film shown in photos not included.

Notes on 'Reel to Reel' Film Projectors:

Auto-Load: While "Auto-Load" can work to varying degrees on different film projectors models, it is notorious for eating films. The overall design went through an evolution over the years, but even the best designs will eat films on occasion. This is usually due to poorly trimmed film, excessive curling of film (usually associated with smaller reel diameters), bent / crumpled leader ends. An excessively "curled" film can be almost impossible to "auto-load". Film eating can also be due to projector maintenance issues and poorly designed transport sprockets.

Projector Chatter: A well maintained and properly adjusted projector should not "chatter" when projecting film with good condition / clean sprocket holes and properly done splices. However, even the best projectors will chatter when trying to project film with torn, worn, missing and otherwise imperfect sprocket holes and bad splices.

Fast Wind / Rewind Sluggishness: This can typically be due to 3 issues. 1: Hardened / varnished internal lubes (pretty much a given on any electro-mechanical device over 10 years old even if it's described as "New In Box"); 2: Glazed rubber parts, belts and / or tires that no longer have any "grip" characteristics to turn associated wheels / tires / mechanism (also pretty much a given on any electro-mechanical device over 10 years old even if it's described as "New In Box". 3: Weak clutch springs, migrated lubes on clutch surfaces, burnished felt pads on clutch surfaces

Film breakage: Other than "Auto-Load" / Loading issues, most film breakage is caused not from the actual film breaking, but from previous splices breaking. Most any film over 50 feet will contain splices and some that are shorter will as well. If you are going to be running film through a projector, you WILL want need to have a splice block and FRESH splice tape for your format(s) of film handy. You WILL break film. Not much is more frustrating than to have a broken film in the middle of a project with half of it residing on the take-up reel and the other half still on the "feed" reel and no way to repair or make the splice.

Flicker-Free / Flicker-Reduction: Flicker is usually an issue when doing film to video transfers. It manifests itself by an image that varies in degrees of brightness, similar to watching some of the early 1900 silent films. It happens due to the film shutter and the video camera shutter, being "out of sync".
Typically silent film is shot at 18fps (frames per second), and sound film at 24fps. Video operates at 30fps. "fps" refers to how many times per second an image is projected or picked up. Even if both were the same fps, they would not be in sync, without a lot of very sophisticated equipment that is beyond the scope of most users means. There are a number of "work-arounds" to reduce or eliminate flicker. The first, and best is to use a 5-bladed shutter model projector. Some projectors can be retrofitted with a 5-blade shutter or may have come originally with one. These can be relatively expensive. The flicker is eliminated by projecting more images than is necessary for the video camera to pickup, thus there is always a projected image regardless of whether the video camera shutter is open or closed.
The next way is to use a "semi-pro" or professional video camera that has an "infinitely variable" speed shutter. As of this writing, the low end of those cost $2000 and can go up to around $5000 before reaching "pro" status. Flicker can be reduced or eliminated in some cases, by "riding" the camera speed control, while monitoring the video signal on a monitor (the control needs to be infinitely variable. Having 2 or 3 different speed choices is not sufficient).
The easiest and typically least expensive way to reduce or sometimes eliminate flicker is to vary the speed of the projector. Many film projectors came with a "variable speed" (needs to be an "infinitely variable" type and not just a choice between 2 or 3 speeds) control from the factory. If not, some lend themselves to being modified by a qualified technician by having one added. Another possible way to achieve variable speed on a projector that doesn't have one is to control it externally, using a device such as a "vari-AC" (have a qualified technician determine if your projector is a candidate for use with a vari-AC and know it's limitations and methods for safe use. If a variable speed projector is used, again simply "ride" the speed control while monitoring the image on the video monitor, as you would with a variable speed camera. Flicker cannot always be eliminated, but can usually be reduced to an undetectable degree.

Lamps / Bulbs: Due to the intensity required to project a small image from film, through a small hole, only part of each second, some times distances of 40 feet, projection lamps must be very powerful. This power comes at the price of short life. Most projector lamps have life spans of 10-50 hours and are very fragile thus, should be handled carefully.

Lens 'Flare': Due to the intensity required to project a small image from film some lens / lamp combinations may have 'Lens Flare' effect which shows up as an excessively bright spot when using a video camera. While this would not have likely been an issue when projecting an image 10-30 feet, onto a screen as projectors were originally designed to do, it may show up when projecting only a fe

Noise: Film projectors are very complicated mechanical things, with lots of moving and integrated parts. There will always be a degree of mechanical noise made by any film projector. It will very in degree by model. Some will be relatively quiet and some will seem quite noisy.

Silent / Sound switch: This is more of an issue with 16mm Film projectors, but the "Silent / Sound" / "Speed" mechanical switch should never be manipulated with the projector is not running. To do so in most cases, will require the projector be partially disassembled to re-seat the drive belt. Again, this is usually not a problem with 8mm units or units that make the change electronically.

Sound quality: "Consumer" film in either 8 or 16mm formats had varying degrees of sound quality. There were many factors that could and can effect sound quality. One is the accuracy of the camera that shot the film originally. If it's speed was not correct or constant, that sound will be imprinted on the film and will play back no better. Sound can vary from usable to laughable in quality, so don't expect Hi-Fi quality by any stretch of the imagination.

Still Function: In order to do "Still" image projection the film must stop. In doing this, most projectors will engage a lamp filter to reduce the amount of light, thus heat hitting a single frame of film. Also, since projection principle incorporates rotating "blades" that alternatively block light, there is no guarantee that when you stop forward motion, you will be on a blade opening, thus light may be partially or completely blocked. This will result in a partial or no image. It sometimes takes 2 to a dozen tries to get the "sync" correct, so you see a complete image. Further since there is a filter or light block used in "still" mode, the brightness of the image will be reduced. Note; due to the tremendous amount of heat produced by most projection lamps, a projector should not be left in "still" mode for more than a few seconds. Longer may result in warped, melted or severed film and a mess to clean up in side the projector film gate.

Zoom Lens: Zoom actuation will vary on different projector models. Some lenses actually have to be physically pulled or pushed to zoom.

Foot note: Film projectors are very complicated, electro-mechanical devices. There are many sub-assemblies and systems within each, and all must be working well together for the unit to function with any accuracy and dependability and not "eat", damage or destroy your precious films and movies. The moving parts always rely on lubricants to function properly and there are commonly a rubber parts / components as well. Most projectors you see available today, were originally sold from the 1950's through the early 1980's. Thus at best, a projector is probably at least 25 years old. Most are 30-40 years old. Interesting things happen to 30+ year old lubricants and rubber parts. Lubricants actually coagulate and will cause "close tolerance" parts to seize or freeze up rendering them immobile. Rubber parts can become brittle and cracked, only to break when the unit is started up. The rubber can also revert back towards it's natural state and become a gooey tar. Virtually every used projector out there will need and require 4-18 hours of technician time to be brought to a "usable" state. Simply "turning one on and getting some things to spin with no smoke coming out" is not a revealing test, nor a basis for making a decision to purchase. Our typical customer has previously purchased 3-5 units from individual sellers, who all stated such things as, "we turned the unit on and it works fine", or "we ran a reel of film through it and it worked great", or "never used, still in box" (those are usually the worst condition and the most difficult to breath life back into), or my personal favorite, "no way to test, but projector looks like it should run great!" Needless to say, none of those statements typically held true. It's not that people are trying to "rip anyone off" (I'm a believer that YOU are generally the person that allows yourself to get "ripped off"), it's just that most non-professional sellers of film projectors, stereo gear, guitars, microphones, keyboards or any other technically minded items should find other things to try and sell, such as old doilies and used baby booties. Heck, if I had an electron-microscope, a race horse, or an F-15 fighter jet, to sell, I would be the last person you would want to talk to about their "real" condition. All I would be able to say is, "it looks like an F-15, doesn't have any rust, and the tires are holding air. It must be ready to fly, right...!???"

SELLING FOR HOME THEATER / MEDIA ROOM 'PROP' OR TO RESTORE.
CIRCA ~ 1950

This is a great looking "Antique" 8mm film projector by Keystone. The  model "K-70" is likely from the WWII era.
(Sometimes referred to as 'Reel to Reel Film' projectors). As it is only a Regular-8mm projector, and is so early, we did not do any restoration on it and are currently selling it for display / prop use in 'as found' condition. While this is in "As-Found" condition, we did fire it up (not with the lamp on the entire time so as not to deduct from it's remaining life) and the motor runs well. It plays forward with or with-out the lamp fine. The variable speed control has the most range we have ever seen on a projector going from VERY slow to VERY fast which would actually make this a good candidate for doing film to video transfers. When running it is very precision sounding, and quiet. It will need a new 'spring' belt as it is a bit stretched for 'forward' motion (this projector actually only uses one belt and it is designed to have the belt moved to either the forward or reverse pulley, depending on which direction you need to go) Now we realize that it has old lubes inside that should likely be cleaned out and replaced, but it is surprisingly "spry" for a 60 year old projector. Could potentially work fine for many more years without doing anything to it. Even the original AC cord is still supple and not cracking apart. Lens specs as follows: 'Somco' brand, f:1.6, 1 inch. Utilizes, 120 volt, 500 watt projection bulb / lamp. Base has built-in "Tilt" adjustment. Very well built metal construction with bronze 'crinkle' finish. Looks great! Once restored (or at least given a 'clean bill of health) would be great for doing Super 8mm film to video transfers as it has variable speed and the speed on this one is adjustable over a VERY wide range! Measures 12" tall x 8" wide and weighs ~ 15 lbs unpacked. Comes with a 'take-up' reel, but Film shown in photos not included, but may sometimes be available separately @ $40 ea.

 SILENT FILM PROJECTOR

SOLD 12/2/11

NORMALLY, all of our film projectors are restored to a condition that they should work for the 'long haul'. We made an exception on this one at this point, due to it having a film / reel capacity of only 200 feet / 5" diameter. This drastically reduces it's potential market. We have ran a couple reels of each regular 8mm and Super-8mm film through it (with the lamp removed to conserve lamp life). It ran those reels perfectly well. It is an 'Auto-Load' unit that loads well. The belt seemed to be reliable upon initial observation. We did not open the unit further than allowing access to the lamp. Utilizes model DJL / DFN / DFC / DFG / DFA 120V / 150W projection bulb / lamp. Will play Regular & Super-8mm films. Will project at normal 18fps. Projects 'Forward' only and always with lamp 'ON'. Very easy to use and works well. Again, we have NOT restored this unit for the reasons mentioned above, but are offering it at 2 different price levels*.
As-Is / As-Found, but functioning or with our normal restoration.
Looks and currently projects film well!  Comes with 1, permanently attached, 200' / 5" take-up reel, 1 reel hub adaptor for your Super 8mm reels, if you use them. Has original and working (prior to shipping) lamp already installed. Includes lid / front cover. Measures 12.5" long x 6" deep x 13" tall and weighs 7 lbs unpacke

8mm FILM CAMERA
FOR PARTS / RESTORE / REPAIR
Circa 1978-82

for sale
Condition unknown, but plan on it needing repair. We don't have the correct batteries or power supply to try it. We tried some standard AA batteries, but they didn't fit very well and the battery compartment has a worn catch so we gave up on it. Not really our "bag" anyway.
Features:
- Lens: Angenieux Macro 1,4 / 6 - 90 mm
- Auto / Manual Zoom with 2 Speeds
- Split Image Focusing
- Macro focusing
- Manual / Auto Exposure
- Frame rates: 9, 18, 24, 40 + single frame
- Shutter degree: 200
- Backlight Control
- Fades
- Lap dissolve
- Interval timer with 1/4-60 second intervals
- Remote control socket
- Flash contact
- Auto / Manual Recording Level Control
- 6 X 1.5V batteries + No separate battery for light meter

We have read on the web that this was the top model of Bauer cameras. Does have the telescopic / rotating shoulder rest built-in. 5 or 10-AMP Vari-AC
PROJECTOR SPEED ADJUSTER

for sale
Finally a way to add variable speed to most film projectors to facilitate "flicker-free" film to video transfers. This adjustable / variable transformer will allow you to vary the voltage going to your projector. On many projectors, this will allow you to vary the shutter speed to "sync" with video. While it will slightly dim and vary the brightness of the projection lamp, commonly transfers are at such close distance the full lamp brightness is not necessary.
This is a "work-around" solution and not for all projectors. It is not for use with a "Sound" projector or any projector that uses "electronics" or electronic circuit boards internally. Works for most "silent", non-electronic circuit, Motor / Lamp only projectors. We do not have a list of projectors that it will or will not work with.
*Also, projectors should not be ran with very low voltage, so user should use common sense and listen to the motor for low limits. Running a projector extremely low can and eventually will destroy the motor and create potential an over heating / fire hazard. When used properly, it should not be necessary to approach the lower voltage limits anyway. Conversely, while the transformer will allow up to 130 VAC, it is not recommended to exceed the 120 Volt setting. This also could create an overheating issue and seriously reduce motor and lamp life. The extra 10-13 volts will not appreciably speed up a projector anyway.
Again, this is a generally accepted "work around" solution, so it's limitations need to always be understood and considered. Some knowledge of electronic principles will be useful.

*Again, Vari-AC's can have many uses. Varying the speed of a motor, bringing voltage up slowly on gear for trouble-shooting, getting "brown AC" to guitar tube amps, and controlling the brightness of a lamp are only a few. It is a tool. Some "tools" are designed for many "known uses", but in the hands of qualified personnel, can be used for other "non-designed" uses. Improperly used, this "tool" can be dangerous, even fatal both to the operator and to the equipment. No warranties are expressed or implied. If you do not understand the use of a Vari-AC on a film projector, DO NOT PURCHASE, OR USE ONE!

GREAT 'PREVIEW' PROJECTOR

 Made in USA
SOLD 4/6/11

We have completely gone through this projector. 30 year old 'coagulated' greased cleaned from the internal mechanism including from all the internal gears (and there's 23 of them!) Once cleaned new silicone grease applied. We also removed both reel drive tires and reconditioned them. We checked out all 'main projection' functions (not the 'slow or still') and made any necessary adjustments and lubed internal drive assembly including all internal 'worm' drive gears with silicon lube. Main drive belt reconditioned for trouble-free service. Film gate, path and lens cleaned. Entire projector has been cleaned inside and out!
Good quality Bell & Howell 'Dual-8' Regular / Super-8mm film / cine projector. Very smooth running. Features, Auto-Loading of film (always 'trim' film, prior to utilizing 'Auto-Load'. Also Features "sprocket-less" film transport so no "extra" sprocket to loose and need to worry about whether you have the correct internal drive sprocket installed for Regular 8 or Super-8. Normally the front sprocket will automatically adjust in diameter for either Regular-8 or Super-8 size reel holes, however on this on there is an issue with the retractable adaptor, so we installed a 'removable' adaptor for Super-8mm use. Lens is USA made Bell and Howell, and specs as follows: f1.5 & 20-32mm. Lens is clear, cloud free and sharp to the edges.
Will play forwards or backward with or without the lamp. Frame adjustor for fine tuning frame for each different film. One unique feature this unit has is the ability to "Rewind" the film while still in the transport loop and can start the rewind process at any point throughout the film. No need to play all the way through and then re-thread. This is a HUGE TIME SAVER, if you are previewing a lot of film, and don't want to play all the way through to then rewind or don't want to simply play backwards at play speed. Most projectors will NOT allow this. You can also rewind the normal way, out of the transport channel if you wish to save wear and tear on your films. Has frame-adjust lever for fine tuning frame size. Will allow projections speeds of normal 18 frames per second. While these projectors did feature a sort of 'Slow or Still' we did not restore those functions as they're rarely used, and that would have increased the end expense unnecessarily. Film capacity of 400ft or 120 meters or 26 minutes of sound film, 26 minutes of silent film. Utilizes model DLD 30 volt, 80 watt, projection lamp (currently included and installed). Front adjustment foot allows for ~1" of height angle adjustment. Well built machine. This unit is ready to go for 'standard 18fps' projection. Looks and works great! Comes with take-up reel that stores in back of projector. Front cover has abbreviated instructions inside as well as film trimmer for clean, trouble-free loading. Comes with a SPARE DLD projection lamp. Also includes our standard 90 day limited warranty (excluding lamps / bulbs). Measures 12.5" long x 7" deep x 10.5" tall (with film arms folded) and weighs 16 lbs unpacked. Front reel of Film in photos not included.

B&H BELL & HOWELL 8mm FILM PROJECTOR
SILENT

 B&H 363
 #...8133
 VARIABLE SPEED
 STANDARD 8mm
AUTO LOADING
 Made in USA
SOLD 4/25/11

One of the most well designed 8mm projectors we have worked on. Considerably different than most of the rest of the 300 & 400 series projectors. Not only does it also have variable speed, but it uses an ingenious "torque converter" mechanism to do adjust it. B&H 363 Silent Super-8mm movie film / cine projector. Runs and works well. Features Auto-Loading for film that does not use the rubber wheel like the other 300 & 400 series that almost always deteriorates. Easy to use. Lens is a Bell & Howell "Increlite" model, and specs as follows: f=/1.6. Lens is clean and cloud free. Very sharp image resolution.
Auto film loading that works and does not "eat" every other roll of film like many "auto-loaders". Will play forwards or backward, with or without the lamp. Has frame-adjust for fine tuning frame size. Utilizes model
DCA/ DEF/DCF, 21.5V / 150W watt projection lamp. Front adjustment foot allows for ~1.5" of height angle adjustment. Built-in film trimmer. Very well built all metal construction.
We have completely gone through this projector. Both hub clutches had the shafts pulled, cleaned and re-lubed (prior to that they are almost always frozen due to "varnished" lube). This particular model utilizes "coil spring" clutches which is about the best design and virtually trouble-free with their fresh cleaning and lube. 'Torque converter' pulley cleaned. Motor bushings lubed. Drive assembly removed, both drive wheels / tires removed, re-conditioned and re-installed. Knurling on both the inside and outside surfaces of the shutter wheel cleaned of old rubber residue. We also disassembled both reel arms completely, removed, cleaned and re-lubed all 7 arm gears. All 8 main drive chain gears cleaned and re-lubed. We checked out all functions and made any necessary adjustments and lubed internal drive assembly including all internal 'worm' drive gears with silicon lube. Main drive belt replaced for trouble-free service. Entire projector has been cleaned inside and out! Plays well. Looks great! Again, as it has 'Variable Speed' it's great for doing Standard 8mm film to video transfers! Retractable, AC cord reel built-in. Comes with metal take-up reel that stores in front cover and a NEW projection lamp already installed!
Also includes our standard 90 day limited warranty (excluding lamps / bulbs). Measures 8.25" wide x 8.5" deep x 14" tall (with film arms folded) and weighs 17 lbs unpacke
d. Film shown in photos not included.

SOLD 4/12/11
VERY WELL BUILT, all metal construction, Keystone, model K-100 Regular 8mm movie film / cine projector. We love working on Keystone projectors as they are generally very 'smartly' designed, using internal 'chain' drive, and hub clutches that 'WORK'! Fully Manual Loading! Also very importantly, features Variable Speed projection rate for flicker-free video transfers!  Original Keystone 'Magnascope' Lens; specs f=/1.6. Projector will play forwards or backwards and has a "still" mode. Unique loading mechanism makes it possible to remove the film from the film path 'mid' travel if needed. Has frame-adjust lever for fine tuning frame size. Utilizes model CXK 120 volt, 300 watt projection lamp. One installed prior to shipment. Front adjustment foot allows for ~1.5" of height angle adjustment. Very well built all metal construction. We have completely gone through this projector. It was approximately 70% disassembled internally for restoration. We have completely gone through this projector. Both hub clutches had the shafts pulled, cleaned and re-lubed (prior to that they are almost always frozen due to "varnished" lube). This particular model utilizes very smartly designed clutches which is about the best design and virtually trouble-free with their fresh cleaning and lube. Motor bushings lubed. Surface of the shutter wheel cleaned of old rubber residue. Both drive chains removed, cleaned and re-lubed. We also disassembled both reel arms completely, removed, cleaned and re-lubed all 8 arm gears. All 7 main drive chain gears cleaned and re-lubed. We checked out all functions and made any necessary adjustments and lubed internal drive assembly including all internal 'worm' drive gears with silicon lube. Main drive wheel / tire reconditioned for positive traction and trouble-free service.  Balance of projector is "chain drive" with no rubber parts to fail. A very durable design. Again, this unit had extensive restoration (about 7 hours) and came out GREAT!!! This unit is ready to go. Looks and works great! This would be a good "work horse" for a film transfer house. Comes with a metal take-up reel as well as a SPARE CZX 500 Watt projection lamp. SOLD 11/12/10

We have completely checked through this unit! Cleaned inside and out (this machine had been meticulously cared for throughout it's life, so was very clean to start with). Internal worm gear, main drive mechanism was completely disassembled, cleaned of old lube and re-lubed with silicon gel, as well as both nylon gears. A fresh, new main drive belt was installed. Both hub mechanisms disassembled, cleaned of old lube and re-lubed, only in the correct spots so as not to interfere with the hub 'cam / catch' mechanism, then checked for proper function. Hub spring belts, cleaned and inspected. Speed control filament windings in great shape with no worn / dead spots. Film gate cleaned as well as track. Lens is clean with no cloudiness or loose elements. We then checked out all functions and made any necessary adjustments and extensively tested with both Super 8 and Regular 8mm film. Only issue is a minor one in that the latch / catch is missing so when the unit is folded for storage, it doesn't lock shut.
Unit loads, runs both forward and reverse very smoothly with great precision. No clunky-ness. The variable speed on this machine has about the most 'range' that we have ever seen. I will go down to a very slow ~ 10fps and up to very fast ~ 30fps with a lot of 'travel' to allow for more accurate adjustments when doing film to video transfers.

Freshly refurbished, Wards 877 Regular / Super-8mm film / cine projector with variable speed control built-in
(Sometimes referred to as 'Reel to Reel Film' projectors). Perfectly smooth and very quiet running. Features Auto-Loading of film, is easy to use and that works well. Front spindle will accept Regular or Super-8 reels.

- Regular and Super 8mm silent film formats
  - Variable Speed capability for "flicker-free" film to video transfers
  - F/ 20-32mm Zoom Lens rated f / 1:1.5, Japan Made!
  - 8V / 50 Watt projection lamp
  - Reverse and Still Projection
  - Forward or Reverse operation with or without the lamp
  - Automatic film loading and take-up reel threading
  - Frame center adjust
  - 400 foot reel capacity
  - Super quiet and very precision built internally
  - 'Spring' Belt hub drive
- Adjustable front foot

Will play forwards or backward with or without the lamp. Again, has infinitely variable film projection speed control to enable "flicker-free" film to video transfers. Utilizes model KP-GT / CXL / CXR 8 volt, 50 watt projection bulb / lamp. Front adjustment foot allows for 2" of height angle adjustment.

Here's an email we received recently that parallels what we actually hear often;

"Hello, We are looking for a refurbished dual 8 projector. We notice that you have none in stock but thought if we contacted you we could get on a waiting list of some sort. We have tried so many ebay products that swear they work only to have to send it back. My father is looking to watch hours of super 8 and regular 8 movies. He is becoming frustrated and doesn't want to lose the movies of his children etc.
Please keep us in mind if you have/get any in stock. Thank you, Christine F."
