These are New Old Stock / Over Stock Equinox water filters / filtration

apparently manufactured by the same company that makes Genesis Water
Filters. The adaptors available from Genesis are interchangeable with these
units.
- These filters are designed for municipally / chlorine treated water and
not "well water". They actually utilize the chlorine to keep the filter
clean without letting the chemical through to you. Without the filtered
Chlorine, they will not last long.

I can
attest to this personally as I have used a water filter for years, and the
while we have great tasting water here in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado,
the chlorine is still offensive. The chlorine taste of course modifies
coffee and tea and worst of all, my limeade for Margaritas! Yuck!
These filters effectively reduce contaminants such as chlorine,
lead and many other common water pollutants. The EQ-10 filters, improve
the taste and clarity of municipally treated water (again, not for well
water). Here's how the triple stage filter works; In the first stage, a
blend of inorganic minerals reduces chlorine, During the second stage, a
highly advanced ceramic-coated absorbent media attracts and permanently
bonds dissolved lead within a matrix pore structure. Finally , in the third
stage of the water filtration process many primary health-related, organic
contaminants are reduced. This is all housed in an
ABS food-grade
plastic capsule, assembled by ultrasonic welding
to eliminate the use of glues and solvents.
These
highly effective, state-of-the-art, water filtration systems have achieved a
rated capacity of 5,000 gallons (means 3-5 years of use for a typical
household).
Ok, not convinced that this filter is worth the price? Consider this. I
also had a popular (won't mention the name, but you can figure it out and it
starts with a "B") pitcher filter (before I got turned on to these). They're
very popular (primarily due to "initial" price of $25-$40 depending on
source). Here's some math. This Equinox EQ-10, is just south of a hundred
bucks and will filter approx 5000 gallons of water. The pitcher type
utilizes cartridges and each is good for about 40 gallons. That means to
filter the same amount of water as the Equinox EQ-10, the pitcher style
would go through 125 cartridges. Cartridges can typically be found in
3-packs for around $25.
Ok, 5000 Equinox gallons divided by 40 pitcher gallons = 125 filter
cartridges.
125 cartridges divided by 3 in a pack = ~42 three packs.
42 three-packs times $25 = $1,050.00 plus the initial cost of the filter
pitcher and you're ponying up around $1,100.00. That's about 22 cents per
gallon of water. Still a great deal when compared to buying water in bottles
as that can be a few bucks per gallon! However at $89 for an EQ-10 it's
about 1.8 cents per gallon. Hum.....There's the logic.
Well, I have learned from many sales trainers that people generally do not
buy things logically, but emotionally.

from it when filling things that don't need to be filtered, like doing
dishes etc, simply by switching the button on the diverter, attached to
your faucet outlet (you can't do this with the 'under the counter'
