Our technician has completely gone through and 'Certified' this unit.

Following ext / int visual inspection entire unit was cleaned inside and out including all contacts, switches and controls.

Bias and DC offset checked and / or adjusted to correct spec.

  Meters calibrated per service manual.

  Meters illumination lamps replaced

Switches and controls now clean sounding and performing solidly.

All functions tested for perfect operation.

All inputs tested and both side produces clean and even sine waves!

No power supply hum of any kind. It's dead silent!

Following electronic refurb, entire unit was cosmetically detailed.

Great looking brushed aluminum face plate or the original aluminum knobs. Following 12+ hours of restoration procedures, the unit was ran continuously at medium volume, as all our amplifier / receivers are, into a load with "Loudness" on and both Tone Controls at 10 for 48 hours.

While this unit was originally marketed at 25 watts / channel, on our test bench the internal amplifiers of this particular unit, #...1659, produced 21 Volts per channel at 8 ohms for 55 Watts per channel and 17.1 Volts at 4 ohms for 73 Watts per channel via discrete outputs (2x 2SB686 & 2x 2SD716
Idle current draw .25A.
DC out measured at <13mV on either side.
Very quiet with Floor noise measured at <00.1mVAC / -60dBm.

OUR MOST POPULAR PACKAGE
(photo of random reel to reel tape, and not necessarily representative of any brands / models included in 13 pack)

"BAKERS DOZEN"
13 + TAKE-UP

Reel-To-Reel Tape
Normal Bias
7" x 1/4" Tape
for sale
Pre-Recorded 1/4" X 7", Normal Bias Reel-to-Reel tape. "Grab-bag" assortment of brands may, but not necessarily include Ampex, BASF, Irish, Kodak, Realistic, Scotch / 3M, Sony, Soundcraft, and others.
We have actually found that 'Normal' bias tape works best on the older decks such as the pre 1980 Akai's, Concertone's, Craigs, Crowns, Grundigs, Kenwoods, Pioneers, Realistics, Sansui's, Sony TC's, Tandbergs, Teacs, Telefunkens, etc. We have gotten some fine recordings using this tape (also, due to the extreme 'retention' of high bias tape some times it is difficult to erase). Normal Bias tapes always seem to erase well.

Most will be at least 1800 feet and some with leaders intact and may or may not include individual box (often do). Most have been used and possibly have recordings on them.
Boxes and / or reels may have extraneous labels and / or marking on them. Reels may have blemishes / nicotine staining / dust etc. You will need to come up with your own labels as even if they are in the box, they likely aren't "sticky" anymore. Leaders may or may not be intact, and even if they are, their splices may give way and need to be re-spliced.
Due to unpredictability of stocks we cannot "cherry pick" brands so they are always assorted. Plastic reels may be clear or black.
Will work on any 'head format', meaning 'quarter track', 'half-track', 'full-track', '4-track / '8-track' / 'multi-track', stereo or mono tape recorders / decks. Use a bulk eraser or will simply erase when new recordings are made on your deck (assuming your 'erase' is functioning).

We can also do a "Bulk erase" on your tapes for an additional $2.00 ea.

BUFFET CLARINET
MODEL B12
INTERMEDIATE STUDENT Bb CLARINET

for sale

This clarinet is modeled after the Famous Buffet Grenadilla wood clarinets from the 'old day's'. When I worked for a 'full-line' music store thru the 1990's, we would periodically have a 'vintage' Buffet come thru and they never hung around long once serviced for re-sale. It is what most clarinet players asked for. That and Yamaha's.  This is a Buffet B12 clarinet, again, designed after the 'vintage' horns for the student / beginner and into the intermediate market. The Buffet B12 clarinets are made from ABS resin with an appearance and sound similar to that of genuine Grenadilla wood. These models are lightweight, strong and easy to clean perfect for even very young players. The Buffet B12 model has a very attractive and traditional design with nickel-plated body rings, straight key work and a traditional bell ring. The body is buffed to give the appearance of wood. The nickel silver key work is cold forged and induction soldered, providing greater stability, precision and quality. The B12 model is mounted with double fish skin pads which ensure excellent sealing.

 Features:
- Nickel plated keys, body rings & plated bell rings
- 65mm barrel
- 14.65mm poly-cylindrical bore
- Arched key cups (same as R-13 model)
- Staggered trill keys (same as R-13 model)
- Blue Needle Springs
- Adjustable 3-position thumb rest
- Ergonomic key design: Improved playing comfort like that of a professional clarinet
- Pointed needle springs for quality key action
- Undercut tone holes for improved tone quality and faster response
- High quality Double fish skin pads enables air tightness and are long lasting
- Blow-molded, hard shell case

This pair is also THE CLEANEST, most 'issue-free' pair we've had! In fact, just had a fresh, professional re-veneer in beautiful walnut wood grain veneer, then rubbed with lemon oil. Grills and grill frames in great condition. All grill locating pins intact and functioning. No breaks, cat stains, tears, rips or snags to the original grill cloth. Very importantly, NONE of the very common 'midrange wrinkling' that for some reason happens to about 50% of the HPM-100's we see.

VINTAGE KENWOOD SPEAKERS
KENWOOD KL-888D / KL888D SPEAKERS
#...1030 / 1680
 Circa 1976-78
 Made in Japan
for sale
Classic lattice grill, vintage & large Kenwood KL-888D stereo speakers. 5-Way, 6-Speaker / Driver, Bass Reflex cabinet design. These are VERY efficient speakers with above average tone balance for late '70's speakers. Plenty of top end that can be filtered / tailored to your tastes with built-in attenuator or external EQ / tone control. Also HUGE & tight low end, likely due to the "Air-Suspension" cabinet design.
Our speaker tech has completely gone through and 'Certified' these. Speakers were entirely disassembled. Crossover components and internal circuit boards were inspected for any possible 'sympathetic' component vibrations. Attenuators were removed and cleaned for static free operation. Our tech has completely tested all drivers, then re-assembled with their original and adequate gasketing material under all driver frames to further reduce any possibilities of vibration or acoustic anomalies, and tested with both recorded material, PN and swept them with our AF generator from 20-3kHz. Following, of course our normal barrage of 'pink noise' and an AF sweep from 3k down to 20Hz, our demo cuts ran the gamut from Dire Straits, 'Brothers in Arms', TLC 'Fan Mail', Allison Kraus and Union Station, Nickelback, a digital recording of a cathedral pipe organ, our 'Usher Speaker' demo CD (no not that Usher), 'Friday Night in San Francisco', with Al Dimeola, John McLaughlin and Paco DeLucia, Nickel Creek's Why Should the Fire Die, Jennifer Warnes, 'Famous Blue Raincoat', and a few others, all digitally recorded and some 'DDD'.
Incredible power handling characteristics. They are able to handle "power" better MUCH than your average speaker. Not simply referring to they're wattage rating, but just the way the perform at higher power / volume levels without "falling apart" sonically. We 'stood' on them HARD with our test Hafler 500 watt power amp.

They also seem to be able to handle "power" better than your average speaker. Not simply referring to they're wattage rating, but just the way the perform at higher power / volume levels without "falling apart" sonically. Among the top performers of the many speakers we have auditioned over the years. Unfortunately, these are missing their grills.

   Features:

 - 16" Non-deteriorating Cloth surround Woofer
 - 6.5" Non-deteriorating, paper surround Mid
 - 6.25" x 2" Horn, Upper Midrange with Compression increasing Phase Plug
 - Dual 2.25" Radial Horn Tweeters with Phase Plugs to increase compression
 - 1.25", Mylar Cone, Radial Super Tweeter
 - "Real" internal cross-over, not just a couple of "caps" on the mids and tweets
 - 3-position Hi frequency attenuators, using resistors, not failure prone Ni-Chrome wire, for custom tailoring sound to your tastes and listening room

- Dual 2.25" Tuned ports for extended low end
 - Vented / cloth woofer dust cap for increasing low end efficiency

Specs:

 Frequency Response:
25-22,000Hz +- 3dB
 Efficiency:
98dB 1w @ 1m
 Nominal Impedance:

 Cross-over frequencies:
700Hz, 2kHz, 5kHz and 10kHz
 Recommended Nominal Power Amplifier range:
10-200 watts
 Recommended MAX Power rating:
150 watts

Very nice looking wood grain, vinyl wrap cabinets. Again, these speakers are sans grills. The cabinets are in excellent shape. Our speaker tech has completely checked these speakers inside and out. Loose inputs tightened. 2 corner joints re-glued / clamped. Attenuators removed and all positions cleaned. As with all of our speakers have completely tested these w/ AF sweep, PN and our standard barrage of test recordings looking for any acoustical anomalies, extraneous noises or sounds and to judge overall sound quality with our Hafler test power amp. All drivers are in perfect condition, work and sound fine!
Speakers look and sound GREAT! Huge, accurate and loud sound, but also very efficient at lower powers due to their 98dB rating! If you're looking for a great performing speaker at medium to higher volume applications, you will not be disappointed with these speakers. Each measures 26" tall x 17.5" wide x 12" deep and weighs 54 lbs unpacked. Includes our standard limited speaker warranty ( & excluding problems due to under / over powering)

Beautiful Condition, Realistic 494, Three-head, Quad / Stereo, Open Reel Tape Deck. This is one of the few reel to reel decks we get in that make it to our finished page. Great performer. If you're looking for a reel to reel deck to "actually use", here you go. Only about 25 % of the used Reel decks out there can be "practically" restored to working order. This one made it through to test great! Looks and sounds great! We have completely gone through it. Will play 3", 5" & 7" reels.

We have completely gone through this unit. Both the Main Drive belt and reel table serpentine belt have been replaced for trouble-free service. Rubber pinch roller has been removed & reconditioned for positive grip. Importantly entire internal transport disassembled, cleaned of old grease & re-lubed where necessary. We also burnished the capstan, heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport. Also both hubs / reel tables have been disassembled, cleaned & re-lubed. Both spindles in perfect alignment and now spin freely. Volume control cleaned for cleaner performance. Heads in great shape as well, with many years of performance left in them and head alignment / azimuth has been checked for peak performance. Plays and records well. Pinch roller and heads all in GREAT condition. Speed checked to 99.5% accuracy . We are including THE original CRAIG AC adaptor to power it, so no need to use with batteries. This unit was very clean and well cared for when we started on it. Cosmetically in near new condition!

AC / DC powered transistorized mini-reel to reel tape deck (comes with correctly working AC power adaptor). If you have older tapes that you are interested in hearing or transferring to a different medium, such as CD ROM then here you go. This is one of the better quality "small reel / portables" we have restored. Most 'transistor' / miniature Reel decks were not much more than novelties / toys, but this is by Craig is an exception, and after restoration, works great! Most small tape decks have a lot of motor and other mechanical noise and are not speed constant due to style of transport and weaker battery powered motors, but not this one. It's perfectly quiet and sounds great!

This was the deck utilized for the original "Tape will self-destruct" intro to the 1960's TV show, "Mission Impossible"

  Features include:

- Dual tape speeds at 3 3/4ips / 9.5 cms and 1 7/8 ips / 4.8 cms (via removable speed sleeve adaptor - included)
  - Plays up to 3" reels
 - ALC Automatic Level Control for input
  - Input level / Volume control
 - Single "T" function control
 - Built-in speaker
 - "Line Out" can be achieved via External Speaker jack (we will include an adaptor cable to connect to a mono or stereo audio input)

Utilizes 6 C-cells, but we are including the AC power supply so no need for batteries.
Again, deck has been gone through and all works great now
(Total technician time investment in refurb ~ 3.5 hours) Great for listening and / or transferring those "letters to home" from Viet Nam, or the tapes made by the kids and grandkids.
All of our restored / refurbished reel to reel decks come with a 7", plastic take-up reel, a 'known good' 7" tape for initial testing of playback, and a 7" tape you can record onto, all to assist you in becoming familiar with the operation / function of your new reel to reel tape deck.
Again, includes AC power adaptor, 'Line-Out' cable and a take-up reel. This one comes with it's original box and packing as well!!!
 Measures 10" wide x 8" deep x 3" thick and weighs ~ 5lbs.

TEAC REEL TO REEL TAPE DECK
TEAC X-7R
#...9315

6-HEAD / 3-MOTOR
AUTO-REVERSE
REEL TO REEL
1/4" TAPE DECK
"
WORLD AC POWER"
SOLD 12/2/16
SHIPPED TO TORONTO, CANADA

Our technician has completely gone through and 'Certified' this unit.
(in-fact we had both of our Senior Techs go thru it, one after the other, just to make sure we had 'all the "i's" dotted and all the "T's" crossed)

We have completely and extensively gone through the mechanicals and electronics of this unit.

Entire transport was disassembled down to the chassis, and every mechanical part was disassembled, cleaned, re-lubed and reassembled (this is a VERY difficult deck to work on, especially considering any adjustments to the 'top layer', as the face plate has to remain partially attached while working on it (kind of like only being able to lift the hood a few inches on your car to change the plugs)

Tape Tension arms disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed, and their springs adjusted and had fresh 500,000 grade silicone lube gel applied to the Kevlar strings

pinch-roller mechanism completely disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed,

 PR mechanism solenoid mounts adjusted

Capstans / flywheels removed, bushings and axels cleaned and re-lubed

 Capstans burnished

Rubber pinch rollers have been cleaned and re-conditioned

Brand new MAIN drive belt installed

  Brand new counter belt installed

Heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport.

Brakes adjusted on fast wind modes also (optimized for 7" tape. 5" tape will work, but will 'dump' slightly when fast winding to a complete stop)

Back tension adjusted on both reel motors.

All three motors test perfectly. Following above adjustments, Reel Start and Stop tested at beginning, middle and end of 7" tapes

Internal pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function.

Sheared 'Mic Input' potentiometer replaced with OEM unit

Replaced bent Auto Reverse contact spring

New Meter lamps / bulbs installed (originals still worked, but preventative maintenance)

We adjusted the VU meters mechanically and electronically w/ factory test tone tapes, as well as the internal playback levels for both directions independently and record levels.

Deck has been fully calibrated to factory manual specs, tested, and found to perform like new in all categories

 Both spindles in perfect alignment.

We also adjusted the reel table heights.

Heads in great shape as well, with many years of performance left in them.

BOTH direction Playback and Record Head alignment / azimuth was adjusted for peak performance with factory test tone tape and oscilloscope.

Both internal speed pots adjusted to 100% accuracy on either speed independently (with pitch control zero'd) (meaning that our 'verified' 1000Hz test tape now plays back at 1000Hz).

Adjusted to record at +/-0dB on High Bias Chrome tape at 1kHz and -3dB @ 15kHz and on normal records at 0dB @ 1kHz and -8dB at 15kHz (in other words, it records VERY well)

Floor noise measured at <1mv w/ blank tape, L&R

This TEAC X-7R functions, plays, and records perfectly (and we really put them through the paces, testing both with well mixed, recently recorded CD material and CD recorded / factory test tones looking for correct head Azimuth and speed accuracy).  (Total time investment in refurb / testing ~ 19 hours between the two techs).

Face is beautiful, beige anodized, aluminum and case is in great condition. Deck looks NEW and works great!

The TEAC X-7R Stereo Reel to Reel tape deck. Ready to GO! This is one of the few reel to reel decks we get in that make it to our finished page. Great performer. If you're looking for a reel to reel deck to "actually use" here you go. Only about 25 % of the used Reel decks out there can be "practically" restored to working order. This one made it through with flying colors after about 19 hours of bench time.

The deck tests great! Looks and sounds great too! We have completely gone through it. Will play 3", 5" & 7" reels (again, we optimized the braking for 7" reels).

TEAC X-7R Features include:

- 4-Track / 2-Channel head stack / tape format
- 3 Heads for instant monitoring of tape levels while recording
- 3 Motors for trouble free performance (has a lot to do with it still being a viable piece of gear due to less rubber parts)

- Auto-Reverse (when using tape with "auto-reverse" sensing foil)
(Recording, forward playback with reverse playback)
- Tri-mode Auto-Reverse
- Bi-Directional recording
- Dual Capstan / Closed Loop Drive System
- IC logic tape transport for "Touch" control
- De-featable +- Pitch control +/-6%
- Dual front mounted 1/4" Microphone inputs
- Analog tape counter
- 12-Pin optional wired remote port on rear panel (remote not included)
- Dual speeds at 7.5 ips / 19cms and 3 3/4ips / 9.5 cms
- Separate dual mic and line level controls
- Dual 1/4" front mounted mic inputs
- Source / Monitor selector
- Output level control
- Dual analog VU level meters
-
Tape REC EQ Selector
- Dual position tape REC Bias type selector
- 'Timer' Play / Record function
- Spring loaded tape hub spindles (no need for rubber reel retainers)
- Reel size selector

WORLD AC POWER" as it will work on both 50 or 60 Hz AC and voltages from 110-240 volts AC

As stated earlier we have completely gone through it cleaning heads and all else, lubing, adjusting, reconditioning pinch rollers and other rubber parts, demagnetizing heads and entire transport and testing everything. Tape speed in both Hi and Lo speed positions have been 'internally' adjusted to 100%, "Dead-On" accuracy using a 1000 Hz test tape for the pitch control in it's 'centered' position. Plays and records Exceptionally well (and we really put them through the paces, testing both with well mixed CD material and CD test tones looking for correct head Azimuth, tape speed accuracy and making test recordings). Pinch rollers and heads all in GREAT condition!!! Face is made of beautiful, black anodized, brushed Aluminum and looks very nice. Very clean and looks near new. Unit looks GREAT!

Deck was also capable of being rack mounted with optional (but not avail from us) rack mounts. Again, following above extensive tech work, it works fabulously!!!
All of our restored / refurbished reel to reel decks come with a 7", plastic take-up reel, a 'known good' 7" tape for initial testing of playback, and a 7" tape you can record onto, all to assist you in becoming familiar with the operation / function of your new reel to reel tape deck.

Entire transport was disassembled down to the chassis, and every mechanical part was disassembled, cleaned, re-lubed and reassembled.

pinch-roller mechanism completely disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed,

 PR mechanism solenoid mounts adjusted

Capstans / flywheels removed, bushings and axels cleaned and re-lubed

 Capstans burnished

Rubber pinch rollers have been cleaned and re-conditioned

Brand new MAIN drive belt installed

Heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport.

Brakes adjusted on fast wind modes also.

Back tension adjusted on both reel motors.

All three motors test perfectly. Following above adjustments, Reel Start and Stop tested at beginning, middle and end of 7" and 10.5" tapes

Internal pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function.

Records at +/-0dB on High Bias Chrome tape at 1kHz.

This TEAC X-1000R-EE functions, plays, and records perfectly (and we really put them through the paces, testing both with well mixed, recently recorded CD material and CD recorded / factory test tones looking for correct head Azimuth and speed accuracy).  (Total time investment in refurb / testing ~ 18 hours).

Face is made of beautiful brushed aluminum and case is in great condition. Deck looks NEW and works great!

This is one of my personal favorites! The TEAC X-1000R Stereo Reel to Reel tape deck. Ready to GO! This is one of the few reel to reel decks we get in that make it to our finished page. Great performer. If you're looking for a reel to reel deck to "actually use" here you go. Only about 25 % of the used Reel decks out there can be "practically" restored to working order. This one made it through with flying colors.

The deck tests great! Looks and sounds great too! We have completely gone through it. Will play 3", 5", 7" & 10.5" reels (10.5" reels require optional NAB hub adaptors that we generally have available at their additional cost).

TEAC X-1000R-EE Features include:

- 3 Heads for instant monitoring of tape levels while recording
- 3 Motors for trouble free performance (has a lot to do with it still being a viable piece of gear due to less rubber parts)
- EE (Extra Efficiency) recording capability
- dbx PROFESSIONAL noise reduction
- Tri-mode Auto-Reverse
- Dual Capstan Drive
- IC logic tape transport for "Touch" control
- De-featable +- Pitch control
- Dual front mounted 1/4" Microphone inputs
- Digital tape counter for "real time" or inches and also with Program, CUE, Repeat, STC & STZ features
- Timer Play
- Auto-Spacer for record mode
- 12-Pin optional wired remote port on rear panel (remote not included)
- 5-pin DIN "Dupli Sync" port on rear for "daisy chaining" units together

- Dual speeds at 7.5 ips / 19cms and 3 3/4ips / 9.5 cms
- Separate dual mic and line level controls
- Dual 1/4" front mounted mic inputs
- Source / Monitor selector
- Output level control
- Dual analog VU level meters
- Dual position tape type selector- Sound on Sound function
- Spring loaded tape hub spindles (no need for rubber reel retainers)
- Tape lifter lever for momentary monitoring during fast wind
- Reel size selector

- True

 VINTAGE KEF STEREO SPEAKERS
KEF 105.4
'Reference Series'
HOME AUDIO SPEAKERS

 #... 1491A & B
 Circa 1980-84
MADE IN ENGLAND
SOLD 10/4/16
SHIPPED TO NEW YORK

KEF 105.4's, are easily contenders for some of the best speakers we've had for overall balance, volume / output and power handling capabilities. These have most everything I look for in a home audio speaker such as 'balance', detail, power handling, accuracy, punch and 'largeness of sound'. HUGE in both size and SONICS! Great for most genres of music. 3-Way / 4-Driver, pseudo 'acoustic suspension' cabinet design (actually what they KEF calls "Nuevo Bass Loading Technique". Just a great 'all-around' speaker for home audio listening or recording studio monitor use. Just as happy with a medium-small size amp as they are with amps of larger size. A very interesting feature of these speakers is a 'sighting' lens / LED arrangement that allows you to rotate / tilt the Midrange / Tweeter units on either X or Y axis to perfectly 'aim' them at a 'critical' listening area.
Our speaker tech has completely gone through and 'Certified' these. Speakers were entirely disassembled. Crossover components and circuit boards were 'damped' to 'proactively' reduce any possible 'sympathetic' component vibrations. He also 're-attached' the 'anti-resonance' pads in the upper driver housings. He also installed fresh felt bumpers under the mid / high housings. Our tech has completely tested all drivers, then re-assembled with their original and adequate gasketing material under all driver frames to further reduce any possibilities of vibration or acoustic anomalies, and tested with recorded material, PN and swept them with our AF generator from 20-3kHz. Following, of course our normal barrage of 'pink noise' and an AF sweep from 3k down to 20Hz, our demo cuts ran the gamut from Dire Straits, 'Brothers in Arms', TLC 'Fan Mail', Allison Kraus and Union Station, Nickelback, a digital recording of a cathedral pipe organ, our 'Usher Speaker' demo CD (no not that Usher), 'Friday Night in San Francisco', with Al Dimeola, John McLaughlin and Paco DeLucia, Nickel Creek's, "When in Rome" from the CD, "Why Should the Fire Die" and a few others, all digitally recorded and some 'DDD'.
Incredible power handling characteristics. They are able to handle "power" MUCH better than your average speaker. Not simply referring to their wattage rating, but just the way they perform at higher power / volume levels without "falling apart" sonically. We 'stood' on them HARD with our test Hafler 225 watt power amp.

Cabinets cleaned, then had a coat of Howards 'Restore-A-Finish' and 'Feed-n-Wax' rubbed into the 'real' teak wood veneer and are in great shape. Grills including grill frames and cloth in great condition as well with only very minor wear. All 8 original swivel castors in fine shape. Overall, the speakers look and perform great!

 KEF 105.4 SPEAKER FEATURES:

 - 3-Way, 4-Driver Acoustic Suspension / Infinite Baffle Bass cabinet design
 - Dual 8" / 200mm, 'Bextrene' cone woofer, with non-deteriorating Butyl rubber surround.
- 4.25" / 110mm Polymer Midrange
in separate, individual polymer housing
- 1" / 25mm KEF 'T33'  Fabric Dome Tweeter in separate, individual polymer housing
- Very well designed and built, '19-Element' internal  cross-over

- Overpowering protection built-in
- LED 'Optimum Listening Area' indicator'

- Speaker input connectors are heavy duty, 3-Way, binding posts
- 'Matched Pair' Paired to spec within 0.5 dB of each other on all aspects, per KEF 105.4 brochure.

KEF 105.4 SPECIFICATIONS:
 Frequency Response:
55-20,000Hz +/-2dB at 2m on design axis or 30-30,000Hz -10dB
 Efficiency: ~86 dB 1w @ 1m
 Maximum Output 'program material': ~108 dB 1w @ 1m
 Nominal Impedance: 8Ω each
 Cross-over frequencies: @ 150, 400 & 2kHz

 Recommended Power Amp Rating:
40-200 watts per channel
Max Power Rating
:
200 watts per channel of 'music / program' material
Protection: 'S-STOP" The system is protected against any continuous or intermittent fault conditions which produce input signals not greater than 70V peaks from DC to 50kHz

Again, we have completely tested all drivers at individually applicable frequencies with a sweep generator looking for any irregular anomalies in either the drivers or cabinet structure integrity. Very nice looking REAL 'Teak' wood, veneer cabinets. Cabinets and veneer overall in excellent shape and look great (wood under grills darker, than exposed wood due to age of finish and exposure to ambient light). Both grill frames and their cloth in fine shape with no breaks or tears.
These have most everything we look for in a home audio speaker such as 'balance', detail, power handling, accuracy, punch and 'largeness of sound'.
Bass response was 'deeper' than about 70% of the speakers we audition, based on the ability to reproduce one of our very difficult 'test cuts'. They are able to handle "power" MUCH better than your average speaker. Not simply referring to their wattage rating, but just the way they perform at higher power / volume levels without "falling apart" sonically. We 'stood' on them HARD with our test Hafler power amp.
Also, again, these look great having the above mentioned work and are ready to go!
Each measures 37" h x 13.75" w x 15" d and weighs 45 lbs unpacked. Includes our 90 day warranty (excluding problems due to under / over powering)

ROUND / 360

OMNI-DIRECTIONAL

STEREO SPEAKERS

Circa 19
71-74
Made in USA

SOLD 9/15/16
SHIPPED TO OHIO

Very unusually designed Harman Kardon, stereo speakers. 360 degree dispersion, round, 2-way design. While these are fairly "cosmetically challenged", they do perform Ok. These are not "loud" speakers and are designed for fairly low wattage ranges. Best for back ground use or for their appearances.
Features include:

- 2-way, Omni-Directional, Acoustic-Suspension design
- 6.5" Low Frequency Driver (woofer)
-2"
Conical, Paper Tweeter
- "Real" internal crossover
- High Frequency attenuator
- Both screw terminal and RCA inputs
- 8 Ohms impedance

Again, these are fairly cosmetically challenged. They were apparently set too close to a heater, which slightly warped a side area of one of the cabinets and blistered the wood grain vinyl wrapping. Also, the vinyl wrapping on the tops have shrunk a bit, so there's about .25" uncovered around the top. We have completely disassembled these speakers (a very difficult task) cleaned all and replaced the internal crossover caps with fresh ones. Again, these speakers are for lower volumes and power ratings. Not a speaker that should be purchased for louder volumes. Each measures 17" x 12" and weighs 16 lbs unpacked.

RECTILINEAR III "TALL BOYS"
STEREO SPEAKERS
Circa 1968-73
MADE IN THE USA!

SOLD 5/18/16
SHIPPED TO ARIZONA

Our speaker tech has completely gone through and 'Certified' these.  We have completely tested all drivers. Original mids' were 'questionable' on the 'audio sweep' so the Midrange's were replaced with a pair of 'originals' we had 'rat-holed' here at Oak Tree Vintage. All drivers were removed and reinstalled into cabinet with added gasketing material under their frames to further reduce any possibilities of vibration or acoustic anomalies. Both Mid and Top End attenuators had there contacts burnished and were cleaned internally. Next, as always they were tested with both recorded material, PN 20-20k and swept them with our AF generator from 20-10kHz. Then came our standard, 'abusive' test recordings. These speakers are ready to go!

Rectilinear 'III Tall Boys' FEATURES INCLUDE:

- 4-way, 6-Driver, Bass Reflex speaker design
-12" Low Frequency Driver (woofer) (Jensen)
- 5" 'Philips" Midrange w/ 'whizzer cone' & w/ AlNiCo magnets
- 2x 2.5" 'Danish made Peerless' Tweeters w/ AlNiCo magnets
- 2x 2" 'Danish made Peerless' Tweeters w/ AlNiCo magnets
- 2" Tuned port for extended bass response
- Top-end Attenuator

Rectilinear 'III Tall Boys' ORIGINAL SPECIFICATIONS / SPECS:

Frequency Response: 22-18,500Hz +- 3dB
Nominal Impedance:
8Ω
Cross-over frequencies:
@
500Hz, 3kHz & 11kHz
Recommended Power amplifier rating:
20-100 watts

From a 1967 Stereo Review Julian Hirsh had this to say about the Rectilinear III, "
Over a period of several months, we have had the opportunity to compare it with a number of other speakers that can 'outpoint' the Rectilinear III on any "individual" characteristic-frequency range, smoothness, distortion, efficiency, dispersion or transient response. However, none of the speakers combine ALL of these properties in such desirable proportions as the Rectilinear III", and  in a 1972 Stereo Review, he had this to say about the Rectilinear III, "...the two samples we have tested are among the best-sounding and most 'natural' speakers we have heard"

This pair actually has 'Jensen' built 12" woofers from the factory (my personal Rectilinear III-High-Boys do not. Just FYI.) These are great sounding 12" 4-way speakers. All drivers feature a non-deteriorating cloth surrounds. The driver compliment consists of one heavy duty 12" woofer, one 4" midrange with hi-mid whizzer cone, two 2.5" cone tweeters and 2 1/5" cone super tweeters. Bass is enhanced via a 2" tuned port.
System input is via binding-post / banana jacks. The input plate also features midrange and hi-freq attenuators, and the "MADE IN THE USA" plate. The entire enclosure is damped with batting. The cabinets are a beautiful American Walnut with very nice grain featured throughout and are in near new condition. These have great efficiency, but are still able to handle bigger power. Huge bass and crystal clear highs with just enough mids. These things -ROCK! I know..I have a pair in my personal 'speaker collection'. They measure 35" tall x 18" wide x 12" deep and each weighs 70 lbs unpacked. Comes with an 'e-copy' /pdf download of the Rectilinear Owners manual, as well as a few 'e-copies' of original brochures. Includes our 90 day warranty (excluding problems due to under / over powering)!

VINTAGE SANSUI SPEAKERS
SANSUI  SP-3500 / SP3500
STEREO SPEAKERS

 #...1803/ 3917
Circa 1974-76 (in US. As early as 71 in Asia)

SOLD 8/16/16
SHIPPED TO MARYLAND

HUGE, VERY impressive and rare Sansui SP-3500 Hi-Fi speakers. 2nd from the top of the line for that time period and many folks, including us believe this was from the best series Sansui ever offered (this series includes also the SP-2500 and SP-5500).
Our speaker tech has completely gone through and 'certified' these. All drivers were removed and tested independently. The woofers had their original, cloth roll suspensions, re-adhered. They were then reinstalled into cabinet with added gasketing material under their frames to improve air seal, and to further reduce any possibilities of vibration or acoustic anomalies. 'High' and 'Mid' Attenuators have been removed, burnished, and cleaned for static-free performance. Next, as always they were tested with both recorded material, PN 20-20k and swept them with our AF generator from 20-10kHz. Then came our standard, 'abusive' test recordings. Cabinets were cleaned, then finished with a fresh coat of lemon oil
(which we recommend to be applied every 6 months to a year, to all real wood veneer speakers).
Following the above work, these speakers are ready to go!
We auditioned this pair well. Following the above mentioned 'barrage', our demo cuts ran the gamut from Dire Straits, 'Brothers in Arms', TLC 'Fan Mail', Allison Kraus and Union Station, Nickelback, and a few others, all digitally recorded and some 'DDD'.
'Solid', punchy and 'tight' low-end, with no 'mush'. Overall, Great 'tone' quality, but then again, they're one of the most famous and sought after speaker models ever made. These are also in fabulous cosmetic condition, with no real issues to speak of. Look near new.
Sansui SP-3500 Features:

- 4-Way, 6 driver design
- 14" woofer with non-deteriorating cloth surround and vented dust cap to extend low-end
- Dual 4" mids w/ Non-deteriorating Cloth surrounds
- 4.5 x 2" Aluminum horn, upper mid with diffusion lens
- Dual 2.25" radial horn super tweeters
- Dual 2" tuned ports to extend bass even further than the woofers already produce
- "Real" internal cross-over with Hi and Mid Frequency attenuation controls

Sansui SP-3500 SPECS:
Frequency Response:
25-20,000 Hz
Cross-over frequencies: 700Hz, 2000Hz and 6.5kHz & 12dB / octave roll-off
Sensitivity: 100 dB @ 1W / 1m
Impedance: 8 Ohms
Power capacity: 100 Watts

These speakers produce Deep bass and are rated for a lot of power at 100 watts. VERY LOUD, punchy and accurate! Make your sound 'come alive'. Lot's of 'presence' and feature that 'Big Wall-O-Sound'!
Cabinets look fabulous. The original finish is real Walnut wood veneer and is in very clean condition and just had a fresh coat of Lemon Oil
The original lattice grills are hand carved, featuring 'Kumiko' fretwork, like other Sansui speaker grills and are in great shape, with virtually no wear and are solid with no breaks or noticeable chips.  The difference with the grills on this series, not found on the prior years, are that they are curved which provides better diffusion of sound.
Again, we have completely gone thru these speakers, as stated above. All drivers work and sound great!
If you are looking for a vintage speaker that has the sound accuracy of more modern speakers then here you go, but that really will 'get loud', then here you go.  Great for 'live sounding' classical, Jazz, Bluegrass or Rock. You won't be disappointed. Each cabinet measures 25.25"h x 17.25"w x 11.5"d and weigh 58 lbs each unpacked. Includes our standard 90 day limited warranty (excluding problems due to under / over powering.)

 BOSTON ACOUSTICS STEREO SPEAKERS
 BOSTON A100 SPEAKERS
 #...3406 / 3418
 Circa 1980-'87
 Made in USA

SOLD 2/8/16
SHIPPED TO VIRGINIA

One of the larger of the Boston Acoustic models. The Boston Acoustic A100 stereo speakers
(I have had a pair of these in my main speaker line-up for years and they're probably the most listened to pair...I currently have about 16 pair in my system). Great speaker for detail & balance. One of my all time favorites.
We have completely tested all drivers. Our speaker tech has completely gone through and 'Certified' these. Woofer surrounds replaced with fresh for years of trouble-free service. All drivers were removed and reinstalled into cabinet with added gasketing material under their frames to further reduce any possibilities of vibration or acoustic anomalies. Next, as always they were tested with both recorded material, PN 20-20k and swept them with our AF generator from 20-3kHz. Then came our standard, 'abusive' test recordings.
Great 'balance' and reproductive detail. 'Solid', punchy and 'tight' low-end, with no 'mush'. Incredible 'tone' quality and very 'Musical'. These are in excellent cosmetic condition as well.

BOSTON ACOUSTICS A100 FEATURES INCLUDE:

- 2-way, Acoustic-Suspension design
-10" Low Frequency Driver (woofer)
-1" Soft-dome, "Ferrofluid" Cooled Tweeter
- "Real" internal crossover (not just a 'cap' on the tweeter)

BOSTON ACOUSTICS A100 ORIGINAL SPECIFICATIONS / SPECS:

Speaker Cabinet Design:
2-way, Acoustic Suspension Cabinet
Driver Complement:
One 10-inch, steel frame woofer, and one 1-inch soft dome tweeter

Frequency Response: 37-25,000Hz +- 3dB
Efficiency:
90dB 1w @ 1m
Nominal Impedance:
8Ω nominal / 6Ω minimum
Cross-over frequencies:
1.8kHz
Recommended Minimum Power amplifier rating:
15 watts minimum

While these speakers are physically large, it is not without reason. Their expansive baffle board serves to reduce any "out of phase" reflections / wave anomalies from neighboring surfaces. This way the speaker can "control" it's sonic results, instead of having it's environment as the major contributor. Secondly the tall stature of the A100  puts the tweeter more on plane with your ears, instead of your knees.

The Walnut grain, vinyl wrapped cabinets in great shape, with hardly any wear, as are the black knit grills. Both woofer surrounds just replaced with new foam for years of trouble-free service. Great speaker for up to mid volume levels. Again, these are more "detail" oriented speakers not "Power Pounding, Party" speakers (yes they get loud, but that's not their "forte"). If that's what you're looking for then don't buy these. These are "definitive" classic Boston speakers. These are a one or two "up" on Advent Loudspeakers. I personally own a pair of Boston Acoustic A100's next to a pair of Advent "The Loudspeakers". Both are very close sounding, but I prefer the sound of my Bostons for a few reasons. Just "bigger" sounding. They are the selected speaker in my system 75% of the time (and I have from 12-18 pairs of speakers in my system at any one time). If you're looking for "true" wide frequency response, balance and detail then these may be the speaker for you (great for most all types of recordings; R&R, POP, RAP, Jazz and new-country, acoustic guitar recordings & classical / symphonic / string music. Very accurate, detailed sound!!! Cabinets measure 32.5" H x 16" W x 8.5" D and weighs a hefty 41 lbs each. Includes our standard 90 day limited warranty (excluding problems due to under / over powering).
