for sale

Our technician has completely gone through and 'Certified' this unit.

We have completely and extensively gone through the mechanicals and electronics of this unit.

Transport was disassembled, and mechanical parts disassembled, cleaned, re-lubed and reassembled

Tape Tension arms disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed, and their springs adjusted and had fresh 500,000 grade silicone lube gel applied

pinch-roller mechanism completely disassembled, cleaned and re-lubed

Damaged Pinch roller arm springs replaced

 PR mechanism solenoid mounts adjusted

Capstans / flywheels removed, bushings and axels cleaned and re-lubed and flywheels burnished (see photos above)

 Capstan burnished

Rubber pinch roller removed and re-conditioned

Brand new #042 counter belt installed (no other belts, as it's "Direct Drive")

Heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport.

Brakes adjusted on fast wind modes also (optimized for 7" tape.)

Back tension adjusted on both reel motors.

 EOT sensor adjusted

All three motors test perfectly. Following above adjustments, Reel Start and Stop tested at beginning, middle and end of 7" tapes

Internal pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function (initially, of course, had typical static / noise which is to be expected in an 'un-serviced' deck after 35+ years).

We adjusted the VU meters mechanically and electronically w/ factory test tone tapes, as well as the internal playback levels for both directions independently and record levels.

Specific to this deck, all the circuit board pins and connectors (and there are dozens), burnished individually with fiber-glass pen (this is a must on this deck for reliable performance)

 Both spindles in perfect alignment.

We also adjusted the reel table heights.

Heads in great shape as well, with many years of performance left in them.

Playback and Record Head alignment / azimuth was adjusted for peak performance with factory test tone tape and oscilloscope.

Speed tested to 98.6% accuracy following refurb (meaning that our 'verified' 1000Hz test tape now plays back at 986Hz).

Adjusted to record a @ -0dB = 0dB PB (+/- 3dB) @ 1kHz on Maxell UDXL tape (Biased for same Maxell UDXL tape).

Floor noise measured at >-60dB w/ blank tape, L&R

This Tandberg 9100X functions, plays, and records VERY WELL (and we really put them through the paces, testing both with well mixed, recently recorded CD material and CD recorded / factory test tones looking for correct head Azimuth and speed accuracy).  (Total time investment in refurb / testing
~ 21 hours).

Face is beautiful, brushed, Stainless Steel and TEAK wood, veneer side panels all in great condition. Deck looks and works great!

The Tandberg 9100X Stereo Reel to Reel tape deck. Ready to GO! This is one of the few reel to reel decks we get in that make it to our finished page. Great performer. If you're looking for a reel to reel deck to "actually use" here you go. Only about 25% of the used Reel decks out there can be "practically" restored to working order. This one made it through with flying colors again after
~21 hours of bench time.

The deck tests great! Looks and sounds great too! We have completely gone through it. Will play 3", 5" & 7" reels (transport best optimized for 7" reels).

Tandberg 9100X Features include:

- 4-Track / 2-Channel head stack / tape format
- 3 Heads for instant monitoring of tape levels while recordin
g (actually there's a "4th head" to handle 'bias', which is what the "Cross Field" means)
- Cross-Field Biasing (via separate head) allows for pushing levels harder, and excellent 'high frequency' performance

- 3 Motors (tech noted, "heavy duty") for trouble free performance (has a lot to do with it still being a viable piece of gear due to less rubber parts)
- Echo & Sound-on-Sound (if you're versed at using that style of recording, or educate yourself on it via the included manual)
- IC logic tape transport for "Touch" control
- Dual front mounted, BALANCED 1/4" Microphone inputs
- Analog tape counter

- Triple speeds at 7.5 ips / 19cms, 3 3/4ips / 9.5 cms &
1 7/8 ips / 4.8 cms
- Separate dual mic and line level controls AND CAN BE 'MIXED'!
- Dual, BALANCED 1/4" front mounted mic inputs
- Source / Monitor selector
- Photo-Electrical / Optical tape auto-stop for transport (best used with leaders installed on tapes)
- Edit / Cue Button (for hearing tape during 'Fast Wind')

- L & R Output level control (also controls volume to Headphones)
- Dual analog VU level meters (lit during Recording. Dark for Playback by design)
- Spring loaded tape hub spindles (no need for rubber reel retainers)
- optional wired remote port on rear panel (remote not included)

As stated earlier we have completely gone through it cleaning heads and all else, lubing, adjusting, reconditioning pinch rollers and other rubber parts, demagnetizing heads and entire transport and testing everything. Tape speed tested and resulted in 98.6% accuracy using a 1000 Hz test tape. Plays and records Exceptionally well (and we really put them through the paces, testing both with well mixed CD material and CD test tones looking for correct head Azimuth, tape speed accuracy and making test recordings). Pinch rollers and heads all in GREAT condition!!! Face is made of beautiful, brushed, stainless steel and looks great. Very clean and looks near new. Unit looks GREAT!

"WORLD AC POWER"

for sale

We have gone through this unit quite some time ago for ourselves to use, and just ran it through the shop again which involves disassembly of the transport, cleaning inside and out, DISASSEMBLING, cleaning and re-lubricating all internal mechanisms and the balance of efforts listed below (difficult on this deck!!!).

Heads inspected for excessive wear (obviously we do this 'early on' as 'excessive' wear will usually negate any further restoration work).

Main Capstan / Flywheel belts replaced during original service

Counter belts replaced during original service

Idler tires replaced during original service

Idler tires reconditioned during this most recent service

All internal trim pots, switches and controls tested for noise-free function.

All meter lAmps and LED indicators working fine.

Both hub spindles in perfect alignment.

FF, REW, & Play transport functions all test and controls tested for 'positive / accurate' responsive is what we normally like to say, but due to the internal design of this one, we were not able to get it to perform 100%, EVERY time. Occasionally the 'STOP' button will have to be pressed a time or two, or another button will need to be pressed to then be able to engage 'STOP'. Other buttons sometimes 'hang up' temporarily, but usually selecting another transport function will 're-set' them as they're 'self cancelling / mechanical' with an internal mechanism that was unusually difficult to service and get to the current 'usable' state.

Heads in great shape as well, with many years of performance left in them

Heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport.

Head alignment and azimuth at 125Hz, 1kHz and 10kHz adjusted for BOTH directions for 'peak performance' with O-Scope and w/ STL and TEAC MTT-257H calibration / alignment tapes. Both channels now even output for PLAYBACK..

Both Internal playback amplifier channels adjusted with Volt meter, O-Scope and w/ STL and TEAC MTT-257H calibration / alignment tapes. Both channels now even output for PLAYBACK..

Meters adjusted to even zero with symmetric input with Volt meter, O-Scope and w/ STL and TEAC MTT-257H calibration / alignment tapes. Both channels now even output for PLAYBACK.

Both Internal Record amplifier channels adjusted with Volt meter, O-Scope and sine-wave generators and 'pink / white noise sources', however we were not able to get great recordings. The left channel is often 'low / and distorted' on 'Recording' (sounds fine as a 'PLAYBACK' deck).

Pinch roller and heads all in GREAT condition!!!

Speed adjusted to 100% accuracy BOTH directions, with with TEAC MTT-257H 1kHz factory calibration tape (meaning 1kHz calibration tape plays back at 1000Hz +/- 1 Hz)

Pinch roller re-surfaced, and in GREAT condition!!!

Tape Counter works well

Speed adjusted internally to 100% accuracy with 1kHz factory test tape (meaning 1kHz calibration tape plays back at 1000Hz +/- 1Hz) (utilized TEAC MTT-257H)

Floor noise measured at -60dBm

So again, this deck was ultimately passed as a 'Playback' deck.

for sale

Our technician has mechanically & electrically gone through this table, which involves disassembly, cleaning inside and out and the balance of efforts listed below.

Original Start / Run capacitor works fine.

Motor and Suspension tensioned disassembled and lubed
(tech note: Motor thrust bearing in excellent condition...motor has lots of torque, smooth and quiet)

Spindle disassembled, cleaned, thrust pad removed and examined to be in excellent condition. Lubed with synthetic machine oil. (tech note: very quiet and smooth. Test spin with no belt results in platter coasting for 1 minute and 45 seconds!)

Tested / analyzed and passed for motor noise and 60Hz hum.

Fresh, new 'Lord Rubber' motor mount grommets installed

Fresh, new 35.1 FRB drive belt installed

Platter runs currently runs at 95.5% correct at +4.5% (filing / machining the motor pulley down would improve it further)

Platter tested for 'true flat' with no 'run-out'

Tone Arm weighting and tracking adjusts well and accurately.

Original platter mat intact and supple

Professional "Troubador" series, Empire 398G / 208G / 980G Belt-Drive, Fully Manual, 3-Speed turntable. Very rare table, and first one we've had in over two decades (actually have owned this for nearly that long, but just now getting to it).
From the original 1963 Empire Troubador turntable ad, "A Professional turntable and arm finished in luxurious satin gold, and no larger than the average-size changer...a royal feast for the eyes and ears!...Presenting a splendid, new professional arm featuring perfect dynamic balance...even tracks upside down!"

Empire 398G Turntable Features:

Normally we would completely refurbish / restore a table. This one had two 'cosmetic' issues that were beyond our 'skill sets' or we simply didn't want to tackle. The first, and primary issue for us was the surface oxidation on most of the table, but especially the tone-arm. It simply wasn't practical for use to try and rectify or pursue. Second issue was the 'checking / flaking' of the original 'tinted finish' on the base. We have a guy that could have re-finished it for us, but then we're back to the 'oxidation' issue that we weren't going to address, so we would end up with a great looking base, but the balance of the table's cosmetic issues would now 'stand out'.
I have an affinity for this table, as every time I go to 'High End' audio shows, it's the table that is used by many of the speaker, cartridge, phono-pre-amp and amplifier dealers / manufacturers as they're way of demonstrating their gear. Part of my thought process is to keep it for myself (I don't mind my gear have a bit of 'cosmetic character / battle scars. Most of my old favorite guitars and Amps have plenty of 'road rash'), but I really don't have room for a third / fourth table in my current system (but of course that could change). So until I decide to keep it, it's for sale in 'working well, but 'as-is' cosmetic condition.

Again, our turntable tech has gone through the mechanicals / electricals of this table, and following restoration was tested for speed accuracy, rumble, wow & flutter, noise isolation, and tone-arm function.
Table looks good, sounds and works great! Again, comes with Shure cartridge, but needs a stylus (we can install something else if the purchaser desires for the cost of the cartridge).
Measures 17" wide x 15" deep x 8.5" tall and weighs a
HEAVY 36 lbs unpacked.
Partially restored Empire 398G (208G turntable on 73-RU-096 Walnut base, and 980G tone-arm.)
Cosmetic Cond. 6-7

MADE IN JAPAN!
Circa 1980-82

for sale

Our technician has completely and EXTENSIVELY gone through and 'Certified' this unit which involves complete removal and disassembly of the entire transport (not an easy task on this deck), cleaning inside and out, DISASSEMBLING, cleaning and re-lubricating all internal mechanisms and the balance of efforts listed below.

Heads inspected for excessive wear (obviously we do this 'early on' as 'excessive' wear will usually negate any further restoration work).

Head rotating gear inspected with a jewelers loop prior to starting any restoration work, and found to be 'hairline' crack free.

Capstan motor spindle bushing re-lubed

Capstan burnished

Internal 23VDC power supply tested to 23.2Volts

2X NEW, 'reel drive' tires installed for years of trouble-free service. (These are actually much more important to replace on this deck (and most) than the belts. Without these, the deck won't fast wind very well, and will likely 'eat tapes' as the 'take-up' reel won't turn properly)

New Main Drive and Counter belts installed for trouble-free service.

Rubber pinch rollers have been reconditioned

Both Flywheel 'belt surfaces' solvent cleaned

Bronze Flywheel bushings solvent cleaned

Both Flywheel thrust pads cleaned

Entire flywheel assemblies re-lubed upon re-assembly

Head rotating mechanism's movement was slightly impeded by 'old lube' (as expected), and was cleaned and re-lubed.

Heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport.

Head alignments and azimuth at both 1kHz and 10kHz adjusted for BOTH directions for 'peak performance' with O-Scope

All internal pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function.

FF, REW, & Play transport functions all test perfectly and controls tested for 'positive / accurate' responsive.

'Silicone Damped' Eject door operates smoothly.

Tape Counter Function tested

Dolby NR circuits / function tested

'Memory / Zero Return' function tested

Heads are in great condition

Internal playback levels adjusted for even playback w/ alignment tape, Oscilloscope, and mVAC meter

Playback meters adjusted for 'playback' zero'd with factory test tone tape.

Internal Record amplifier channels adjusted for 'even output'

Pinch roller and heads all in GREAT condition!!!

Overall floor noise measured at >-60dB.

Speed adjusted internally to 100% accuracy BOTH directions, with 1kHz factory calibration tape and frequency counter (meaning 1kHz calibration tape plays back at 1000Hz +/- 1Hz)

Cosmetically, the deck looks great. The only issue worth mentioning is an old repair, to the lower / underneath edge of the 'wood grain wrapped' case / cabinet (really only notice it when you 'feel' it with your fingers trying to move the deck (not worth taking photos of). Other than that, it looks NEAR NEW!

Plays great and after adjustment, records AMAZINGLY well w/ following results:

> With Pink Noise recorded @-5dB w/o Dolby engaged PB @-1dB & @-10dB w/o Dolby engaged PB @ 0dB on Maxell UDXL-II / High Bias tapes

> With 1kHz recorded at 0dB with Dolby engaged on Maxell UR (normal bias) & Maxell XL-II (high bias) tapes PB @ 0dB

> With 10kHz recorded at 0dB with Dolby engaged on Maxell XL-II (High bias) tapes plays back @-6dB

With 'ddd' CD recorded at 0dB with Dolby engaged: 0 to-1dB on Maxell UDXL-II / High Bias tapes

Bottom line is this deck sounds amazing for playback or recording (always make sure you're playing back 'good quality' tape recordings)
Total technician time to restore 10.5+ HOURS!
____________________________

The Teac CX-650R, Auto-Reverse with 'Bi-Directional Recording', Stereo Cassette Tape Deck. Great deck for doing your tape transfers if your tapes were recorded with no NR or with "Dolby B" or for making some awesome 'new' recordings or 'mix tapes' (hey, it's 'the thing' again). This deck is a pleasure to use, and has a great 'feel' due to it's size and transport function. As far as cosmetics, it's BEAUTIFUL. Was taken very good care of before it came to us, and is even more astounding now. The deck and the wood grain case could convince you that time had rolled back almost 40 years, and you were seeing it at the original store's retail display.

Teac CX-650R Features include:

- Heavy duty transport featuring 'oversized' capstan motor, and VERY large, 'asymmetrical' flywheels
- Triple-Mode Auto-Reverse, with 'Bi-Directional' Recording (not just 'A' side recording!)

-  "Soft touch-control" tape transport
- Selector for Normal (EX / I), CrO2 (SX / II) & Metal (ZX / IV) Tape Type
- 3-Position Selector for Tape Equalization for Normal (EX / I), CrO2 (SX / II) & Metal (ZX / IV) Tape Type on playback
- Dual Analog VU Level Meters
- Analog counter
- Built-in MPX filter for killing the 19kHz pilot tone in FM transmissions
- Variable Output Level control (one of the most important features on a deck in our opinion)
- Dolby B NR
- Record Muting
- 'Auto-Space' records a 4-second space prior to 'stop' when engaged.
- Real 'Potentiometer' Record level controls that are 'gear coupled' (meaning when you turn one, the other one responds as well. They can be turned independently for 'fine adjustment' as they're 'clutch coupled' as well)
- Memory Stop / Repeat for counter
- Dual, Front mounted, 1/4", Microphone Jacks
- Front mounted, 1/4", Stereo Headphone jack
- Timer Play / Record function.
- Multi-pin port on rear panel for optional wired remote, TEAC RC-100 (remote not included)

Again, we have completely cleaned, refurbished / serviced and thoroughly tested this Teac CX-650R cassette tape deck.
Great for transferring your no NR or Dolby B NR encoded tape collection to CD, Hard-drive or MP3 especially with the 'Tape EQ' selector for 'fine tuning' older tapes. Built very well! Looks like new, works perfectly and sounds fabulous.
Due to it's size, overall feel, the 'input controls' and the 'transport control' this deck really is a blast to use. Comes with an 'e-copy / pdf download' of the TEAC CX-650R cassette tape deck owners / users / instruction manual. Measures 18.5" wide x 13.5" deep x 7" tall and also weighs a VERY HEAVY 26 lbs unpacked. Just in-case you 'too casually' read past that last little bit,

BUFFET CLARINET
MODEL B12
INTERMEDIATE STUDENT Bb CLARINET

for sale

This clarinet is modeled after the Famous Buffet Grenadilla wood clarinets from the 'old day's'. When I worked for a 'full-line' music store thru the 1990's, we would periodically have a 'vintage' Buffet come thru and they never hung around long once serviced for re-sale. It is what most clarinet players asked for. That and Yamaha's.  This is a Buffet B12 clarinet, again, designed after the 'vintage' horns for the student / beginner and into the intermediate market. The Buffet B12 clarinets are made from ABS resin with an appearance and sound similar to that of genuine Grenadilla wood. These models are lightweight, strong and easy to clean perfect for even very young players. The Buffet B12 model has a very attractive and traditional design with nickel-plated body rings, straight key work and a traditional bell ring. The body is buffed to give the appearance of wood. The nickel silver key work is cold forged and induction ered, providing greater stability, precision and quality. The B12 model is mounted with double fish skin pads which ensure excellent sealing.

 Features:
- Nickel plated keys, body rings & plated bell rings
- 65mm barrel
- 14.65mm poly-cylindrical bore
- Arched key cups (same as R-13 model)
- Staggered trill keys (same as R-13 model)
- Blue Needle Springs
- Adjustable 3-position thumb rest
- Ergonomic key design: Improved playing comfort like that of a professional clarinet
- Pointed needle springs for quality key action
- Undercut tone holes for improved tone quality and faster response
- High quality Double fish skin pads enables air tightness and are long lasting
- Blow-molded, hard shell case

Mouthpiece Assembly with Ligature, Cap and Mouthpiece

-           Cork Grease

-           Cleaning Swab

This clarinet retails for $925.00 (US).

AUDIO-TECHINCA
STEREO HOME AUDIO / PRO TURNTABLE
MODEL AT-LP120USB
DIRECT DRIVE
FULLY MANUAL RETURN
WITH A GREAT DIAMOND CARTRIDGE NOW INCLUDED
NEW
for sale
One of the few 'QUALITY' turntables available under a $GRAND these days! The Audio-Technica AT-LP120 stereo turntable. Similar in design to some of the vintage turntable models, such as the Kenwood KD-550 'concrete base', the Sony PS-T1, and the Technics SL-1500, SL-1700MK2 or SL-D2 turntable models. This professional stereo turntable features a high-torque, direct-drive motor for quick start-ups yet is perfectly quiet. Classic 'S' shaped tone arm with 'universal' head-shell that allows mounting of most any 'quality', 1/2' cartridge, either MM (moving magnet) or MC (moving coil). Tone-arm mounted in high quality 4-point, Gimbol bearing.
NEW UPDATE--- Now having the table shipped with a much better cartridge than previously. It's now using one of our favorite 'all around' cartridge the AT-95E, instead of the 'clunkier' AT-2N (that cartridge liked to track at an incredibly heavy 3.5 Grams!!! Yuck...) Click here for further info on the cartridge.

NEW UPDATE--- We're now including the Audio-Technica AT-95E, MM, Elliptically cut diamond cartridge with tables purchased from us at Oak Tree Vintage.

Overall Table has good mass at over 20 lbs!

Features:

If you have a 'REAL receiver', ie, an old-school, vintage, 2-channel receiver or integrated amp or pre-amp with a phono pre built-in, then you can flip a switch and bypass the 'built-in' phono preamp.
- USB outputconnects directly to your computer for plug-&-play use
- Forward or reverse play (this is a DJ feature, and if you value your vinyl or cartridge, DON'T USE 'Reverse'! If you have a crappy cartridge and are playing 'Frisbees', then 'go for it' if you're so inclined!

SHIPPING TO WILLIAM IN MARYLAND

These are from an upper-end line of speakers that Technics produced for MCS. The "Linear Motion" line used a Tri-Planer baffle board design to more correctly "time align" the 'top end' drivers with the woofer. The Midrange is on a 'spacer' to position it (time-wise) between the tweeter and woofer. This design was based on the Flagship (and very expensive) Technics SB-7070 speakers.

Our speaker tech has completely gone through and 'Certified' these. We have completely tested them with both recorded material, PN 20-20k and swept them with our AF generator.
MCS 8320 Features include:

- 3-Way, Bass Reflex cabinet
- 'Time-Aligned' / Bi-planar baffle board

- 2
" Pulp-cone tweeter
- 4" Pulp-cone Midrange
- 12" Ribbed, Pulp-Woofer with
non-deteriorating Cloth surround
- 2.25" tuned port for extending low end

- External, resettable protection relays for all drivers
- 'Spring Clip' Speaker terminals

MCS 8320 Specifications / Specs:

Frequency Response: 32-22,000Hz +- 3dB
Efficiency: ~92dB 1W@ 1m
Nominal Impedance:
nominal
Recommended Minimum Power amplifier rating: 15 Watts minimum

Again, all
drivers tested, work and sound fine! Tested for all frequencies with a sweep generator. Speakers cleaned inside and out. They have black cloth grills and the cabinets are a mixture of black and walnut grain vinyl wrapped. Cabinets and grills are in great shape. Grills still have all locating pins intact and frames are free of breaks / cracks etc. Each cabinet measures 24" tall x 13.5" wide x 12.25" deep and weighs 26 lbs unpacked. Includes our standard 90 day limited warranty ( & excluding problems due to under / over powering)

SHIPPING TO JIM IN LOUISIANA

Great looking, performing and sounding Yamaha NS-A738 3-way speakers have a room filling, "tight" sound that ensures sonic accuracy. Great for home use or project studio monitors. If you can't afford the famous Yamaha NS-10's (now, currently north of $1000.00), then these may be an affordable alternative for your project recording studio (I used to be a dealer for NS-10's and have heard and sold many).

Our speaker tech has completely gone through and 'Certified' these.
We have completely tested them with both recorded material, PN 20-20k and swept them with our AF generator. Prior to testing with the sweep generator, we added gasket material under all the driver flanges in each cabinet to eliminate resonate vibrations. This is really a 'finishing touch' on this model of Yamaha's that should have been done at the factory, but is rarely done by most companies / manufacturers. We also added 'poly-spun' batting to the cabinet space to further tighten up the low-end, eliminate hollowness / cabinet ringing. Again, should have been done at the factory, instead of relying an 'empty cab' to allow 'boomy bass' which on the original sales floor, made the box appear sonically 'larger' than it is by making the box seem to be producing more bass. The 'bass' that an un-damped cabinet produces is 'hollow and flappy', and not what you'll want to listen to over the long haul. That would be come very fatiguing soon.
Handles power decently and reproduced the low-end in our most difficult test CD! If you've read some of our other 'audition notes', you'll know what is meant when I say that these speakers, "reproduced the "TLC 'Sub-Bass' note' VERY well" when situated on the floor.

 Yamaha NS-A738 Features include:

- 3-Way, Acoustic Suspension design for studio monitoring "tight bass"
- 8 High-Compliance, Cloth Surround, Polypropylene Coated, Long-Throw woofer, woofer w/ non-deteriorating cloth surround
- 4 mid non-deteriorating paper surround
- .75 Ferro-Fluid Cooled, Mylar, Dome tweeter
- Infinite baffle for exceptionally tight bass

Yamaha NS-A738 Specifications:

Frequency Response:
90-20,000Hz 3.5dB
Efficiency:
91dB 1W @ 1m
Nominal Impedance:

Cross-over frequencies:

Recommended Minimum Amp Size:

Maximum input power rating:

All drivers work and sound fine! Tested for all frequencies with a sweep generator and test CD's. Each finished in black, matte, vinyl wrap. Speakers look and sound GREAT! One of the best "all around" speakers we've heard in a long time at any size or price. Each measures 16" tall x 11" wide x 13" deep and weighs 14 lbs unpacked. Internal AC voltage set for 'North American' use, and Internal DC power supply tested to correct Voltages before any work commenced

Heads inspected for excessive wear (obviously we do this 'early on' as 'excessive' wear will usually negate any further restoration work).

Head rotating gears on both wells inspected with a jewelers loop prior to starting any restoration work, and found to be 'hairline' crack free.

Capstan motor spindle bushing re-lubed

Capstan burnished

Main Drive and Counter belts reconditioned or replaced w/ new as necessary throughout entire transport for trouble-free service.

All 4 Rubber pinch rollers have been reconditioned (Pinch roller assembly service alone took about 3 hours)

Flywheel 'belt surfaces' solvent cleaned

Entire flywheel assemblies re-lubed upon re-assembly

Replaced missing reel hub retainers

Heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport.

Head alignment and azimuth at 125Hz, 1kHz and 10kHz adjusted for BOTH directions on both decks for 'peak performance' with O-Scope and w/ STL and TEAC MTT-257H calibration / alignment tapes. Both channels now even output.

All internal pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function.

All LED's and fluorescent displays functioning well, with low current draw

FF, REW, & Play transport functions all test perfectly and controls tested for 'positive / accurate' responsive.

'Silicone Damped' Eject door operates smoothly.

Tape Counter Function tested

Dolby NR circuits / function tested

'Memory / Zero Return' function tested

Meters adjusted to even zero with symmetric with Volt meter, O-Scope and w/ STL and TEAC MTT-257H calibration / alignment tapes. Both channels now even output.

Both Internal playback amplifier channels adjusted with Volt meter, O-Scope and w/ STL and TEAC MTT-257H calibration / alignment tapes. Both channels now even output.

Meters adjusted to even zero with symmetric input with Volt meter, O-Scope and w/ STL and TEAC MTT-257H calibration / alignment tapes. Both channels now even output.

Both Internal Record amplifier channels adjusted with Volt meter, O-Scope and w/ STL and TEAC MTT-257H calibration / alignment tapes. Both channels now even output.

Pinch rollers and heads all in GREAT condition!!!

Speed adjusted to 100% accuracy BOTH directions, with 1kHz factory calibration tape (meaning 1kHz calibration tape plays back at 1000Hz +/- 1Hz)

Plays great and after adjustment, records AMAZINGLY well w/ following results;

Recording Results following refurb / service, DECK 1;
Side A: 1kHz recorded @ 0dB with Dolby C engaged on Maxell XL-II (High bias) tapes plays back @ avg of -1dB L & R
Side B: 1kHz recorded @ 0dB with Dolby C engaged on Maxell XL-II (High bias) tapes plays back @ avg of -2dB L & R

Recording Results following refurb / service, DECK 2;
Side A: 1kHz recorded @ 0dB with Dolby C engaged on Maxell XL-II (High bias) tapes plays back @ avg of 0dB L & R!

10k was down 5dB or less across the board.
White noise was down ~ 5dB recorded at -5dB and -10dB on Deck 1
White noise was down ~ 2dB recorded at -5dB and -0dB recorded at -10 on Deck 2

'DDD' CD recorded at 0dB with Dolby engaged; 0 to -2dB on Maxell UDXL-II / High Bias tapes

Bottom line is this deck sounds amazing for playback or recording (always make sure you're playing back 'good quality' tape recordings)

Cosmetically, the deck looks near new. Just a few scratches on the rear, sheet metal panel.

Plays perfectly and after adjustment, records well at -0dB! (and we really put them through the paces, testing both with well mixed, recently recorded CD material and CD recorded / factory test tones looking for correct head Azimuth and speed accuracy). Pinch roller and heads all in GREAT condition!!! Both level meters playback even.  Speed adjusted to 100% accuracy with 1kHz factory test tape meaning that our
1kHz test tone tape, plays back at 1kHz* on BOTH WELLS and BOTH SPEEDS! Deck looks like NEW, works and sounds great!

1kHz with pitch control centered!
____________________________

We commonly will not give a "dubbing" / dual well cassette deck a second look as there weren't many that were not simply two cheap decks in one box. I KNOW, as I have sold hundreds of them when new by just about every brand. I always tried to persuade anyone looking for a "real" deck, to generally avoid them and just get a good, single play deck or two single play decks. "Dubbing" decks, as a general rule just didn't have quality transports or decent specs. There were, however a handful of exceptions that combined the convenience of a dubbing deck, with quality and we have posted a few with our high quality single well decks! This Teac W-6000R is one of those few! It's super quality in design and build, and it's loaded.  This is an incredible deck for performance and IT'S LOADED! It would be at home in any audiophile system as well as pro / project studio. This was the top of the "W" series of Teac's and had an original MSRP of $750.00!

TEAC W-6000R Features Include:

- HX-PRO (Extended Head-Room Recording)
- GEAR DRIVEN reels (This is BIG on a cassette deck. Much of the issues with 'tape eating' and fast wind issues can be attributed to 'idler tire issues' on cassette decks, and most use them. This deck utilizes 'gears' so no tires to glaze, crack or otherwise deteriorate over time. Taking that off the table, means the deck will likely last many years / decades over other decks)

- Dual-well design with both decks being essentially identical internally and BOTH WELLS RECORD!
- Dolby B & C Noise Reduction built-in
- Pitch Control on deck well "A", allows adjusting to "pitch" for musicians +-12%
- A+B / Parallel Record. This means that both decks record. This allows you to make two "master" tapes at the same time. Only a small percentage of dubbing decks will do this!
- "CD Sync" allows continuous recording / playback through both decks
- IC Logic "touch-control" tape transport on both decks
- Super-quality tape heads
- Dual Well "Quick" Auto Reverse. ("Quick" Auto Reverse, meaning that it senses the beginning of the tape leader instead of switching at the end of the leader due to tension)
- Tri-Mode transports; One way stop, U-Turn Auto-Reverse, Infinite Loop Auto-Reverse
- CPS (Computomatic Program Search) Function. Allows selection and playback of any tune up to 15x ahead or back
- Both Normal and High (2X) speed dubbing
- Auto-Selector for Normal, CrO2 & Metal Tape Type
- Full fluorescent readout screen
- Dual fluorescent signal level meters with peak hold that are shared and can be utilized with either tape well.
- Dual Digital tape counters can be selected for either tape well, and can be independently memorized / reset for each well.
- "ARLS" Automatic Record Level Sensor for either tape well, 1 or 2
- "Tape Mix" control allows a "mix" of signals from any combination of the Tape in well "1", Microphones, and a Line-In signal to be recorded onto Tape well "2"
- Record Level controls for either tape well, 1 or 2
- Record Balance control for either tape well, 1 or 2
- Record Mute function on both wells
- Timer Play / Record / Off selector
- Dual 1/4" mic input jacks
- Independent L & R Microphone input level controls

Our technician has completely and EXTENSIVELY gone through and 'Certified' this unit which involves complete removal and disassembly of the entire transport, cleaning inside and out, DISASSEMBLING, cleaning and re-lubricating all internal mechanisms and the balance of efforts listed below.

Heads inspected for excessive wear (obviously we do this 'early on' as 'excessive' wear will usually negate any further restoration work). These have virtually NO visible wear to them.

Capstan motor spindle bushing re-lubed

Capstan burnished

Internal DC power supply tested

2X NEW, Custom crafted / modified, 'reel drive' installed for years of trouble-free service. (These are actually much more important to replace on this deck (and most) than the belts. Without these, the deck won't fast wind very well, and will likely 'eat tapes' as the 'take-up' reel won't turn properly)

All new internal Drive and Counter belts installed for trouble-free service.

Rubber pinch rollers have been reconditioned

Both Flywheel 'belt surfaces' solvent cleaned

Bronze Flywheel bushings solvent cleaned

Both Flywheel thrust pads cleaned

Entire flywheel assemblies re-lubed upon re-assembly

Heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport.

New Tape well lamp installed.

Head alignments and azimuth at 125Hz, 1kHz and 10kHz adjusted for 'peak performance' with O-Scope and original TEAC alignment tape

All internal pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function.

Both spindles in perfect alignment.

FF, REW, & Play transport functions all test perfectly and controls tested for 'positive / accurate' responsive.

'Silicone Damped' Eject door operates smoothly.

Tape Counter Function tested

Dolby NR circuits / function tested

'Memory / Zero Return' function tested

Heads are in great condition

Internal playback levels adjusted for even playback w/ alignment tape, Oscilloscope, and mVAC meter

Playback meters adjusted for 'playback' zero'd with factory test tone tape.

Internal Record amplifier channels adjusted for 'even output'

Pinch roller and heads all in GREAT condition!!!

Overall floor noise measured at >-60dB.

Speed adjusted internally to 100% accuracy BOTH directions, with 1kHz factory calibration tape and frequency counter (meaning 1kHz calibration tape plays back at 1000Hz +/- 2Hz)

Plays great and after adjustment, records AMAZINGLY well w/ following results;
With Pink Noise recorded at 0dB w/o Dolby engaged; -0dB on Maxell UDXL-II / High Bias tapes

Bottom line is this deck sounds amazing for playback or recording (always make sure you're playing back 'good quality' tape recordings)
Total technician time to restore 15+ HOURS!

The Teac C-3X, 2-SPEED & 3-HEAD, Stereo Cassette Tape Deck. Great deck for a 'project recording studio' as a 'mastering deck' (utilizing the 'High Speed'). Of course also makes an incredible 'home system' deck and of also a great deck for doing your tape transfers if your tapes were recorded with no NR or with "Dolby B". Think of making some awesome 'new' recordings or 'mix tapes' (hey, it's 'the thing' again). This deck is a pleasure to use, and has a great 'feel' due to it's size and transport function. As far as cosmetics, it's BEAUTIFUL. Was taken very good care of before it came to us, and is even more astounding now.

Teac C-3X Features include:

- Three Heads to allow monitoring of 'Actual Signal to Tape'
- Two Speeds; 1 7/8 ips (normal) and 3.75 ips (HIGH Speed for best recording quality)
- USER Adjustable BIAS and RECORD LEVEL (internal level, NOT just the 'front panel pots')
- Dolby HX and Dolby B
- Rear I/O RCA jacks for connecting external dBx (or other NR) unit

- Heavy duty transport featuring 'oversized' capstan motor, and VERY large, 'asymmetrical' flywheels
- "Soft touch-control" tape transport
- Selector for Normal (EX / I), CrO2 (SX / II) & Metal (ZX / IV) Tape Type
- 3-Position Selector for Tape Equalization for Normal (EX / I), CrO2 (SX / II) & Metal (ZX / IV) Tape Type on playback
- Dual Analog VU Level Meters
- Analog counter
- Variable Output Level control (one of the most important features on a deck in our opinion)
- Record Muting
- Real 'Potentiometer' Record level controls that are 'gear coupled' (meaning when you turn one, the other one responds as well. They can be turned independently for 'fine adjustment' as they're 'clutch coupled' as well)
- Memory Stop / Repeat Play for counter
- Dual, Front mounted, 1/4", Microphone Jacks
- Front mounted, 1/4", Stereo Headphone jack
- Timer Play / Record function.
- Multi-pin port on rear panel for any optional dBx NR unit (not included)
- Multi-pin port on rear panel for optional wired remote, (remote not included)

Teac C-3X Specifications:

Freq Response;
31.5Hz to 20kHz w/ 'High Bias' tape & @ 'High Speed'
(There are a multitude of frequency response curves in the service manual and were not practical to illustrate here)

Wow & Flutter (WRMS):
0.065% WRMS @ 'High Speed' & 0.08% WRMS @ Normal Speed
Tape Speeds:
1-7/8 ips & 3.75 ips
Harmonic Distortion / THD: >2.0% @ 1kHz & 0dB (High Bias Tapes)
Preset Bias frequency (if you select from 'user' adjustability): 100kHz +/- 5kHz
S/N ratio:
>55dB w/ Dolby dis-engaged (and High Bias Tapes @ High speed)

2X NEW, Custom made, 'reel drive' tires installed for years of trouble-free service. (These are actually much more important to replace on this deck (and most) than the belts. Without these, the deck won't fast wind very well, and will likely 'eat tapes' as the 'take-up' reel won't turn properly)

All new internal Drive and Counter belts installed for trouble-free service.

Rubber pinch rollers have been reconditioned

Both Flywheel 'belt surfaces' solvent cleaned

Bronze Flywheel bushings solvent cleaned

Both Flywheel thrust pads cleaned

Entire flywheel assemblies re-lubed upon re-assembly

Heads have been cleaned and de-magnetized as well as the entire transport.

Head alignments and azimuth at both 1kHz and 10kHz adjusted for BOTH directions for 'peak performance' with O-Scope

All internal pots, switches and controls cleaned and tested for noise-free function.

Both spindles in perfect alignment.

FF, REW, & Play transport functions all test perfectly and controls tested for 'positive / accurate' responsive.

'Silicone Damped' Eject door operates smoothly.

Tape Counter Function tested

Dolby NR circuits / function tested

'Memory / Zero Return' function tested

Heads are in great condition

Internal playback levels adjusted for even playback w/ alignment tape, Oscilloscope, and mVAC meter

Playback meters adjusted for 'playback' zero'd with factory test tone tape.

Internal Record amplifier channels adjusted for 'even output'

Pinch roller and heads all in GREAT condition!!!

Overall floor noise measured at >-60dB.

Speed adjusted internally to 100% accuracy BOTH directions, with 1kHz factory calibration tape and frequency counter (meaning 1kHz calibration tape plays back at 1000Hz +/- 1Hz)

Cosmetically, the deck and the 'wood grain wrapped' case / cabinet looks NEAR NEW!

Plays great and after adjustment, records AMAZINGLY well w/ following results;
With Pink Noise recorded at 0dB w/o Dolby engaged; -2dB on Maxell UDXL-II / High Bias tapes
With 1kHz recorded at 0dB with Dolby engaged; -0.3dB on Maxell UR (normal bias) tapes
With 'ddd' CD recorded at 0dB with Dolby engaged; -2dB on Maxell UDXL-II / High Bias tapes
With 'ddd' CD recorded at 0dB with Dolby engaged; -1.5dB on Maxell UR (normal bias) tapes
With 'ddd' CD recorded at 0dB w/oDolby engaged; -3dB on Maxell UR (normal bias) tapes

Bottom line is this deck sounds amazing for playback or recording (always make sure you're playing back 'good quality' tape recordings)
Total technician time to restore 10+ HOURS!

The Teac A-510 / A-500 with 'Dolby NR and IC Logic Transport', Stereo Cassette Tape Deck. Great deck for doing your tape transfers if your tapes were recorded with no NR or with "Dolby B" or for making some awesome 'new' recordings or 'mix tapes' (hey, it's 'the thing' again).  'Low Noise' / Normal Bias

for sale
Pre-Recorded, 1/4" X 7" (18cm), Realistic / Radio Shack, 'CONCERTape', 1800 ft reel to reel tape.
Great tape for general purpose recording.

These are 1800' / 548.6 meters and 1.0 MIL thick, and include individual, boxes with a plastic reel. More than enough length for most LP's at 7.5ips (fast, consumer speed) for 90 minutes combined sides (180 minutes at 3.75ips). According to an original catalog, "1-Mil base of heavy-duty Polyester resists breaking and stretching while giving you extra-wide response.""   Will work on any 'head format', meaning 'quarter track', 'half-track', 'full-track', '4-track / '8-track' / 'multi-track', stereo or mono tape recorders / decks. Reels are 'light gray' plastic. Leaderless tape.
We have actually found that 'Normal' bias tape works best on the older decks such as the pre 1980 Akai's, Concertone's, Craigs, Crowns, Grundigs, Kenwoods, Pioneers, Realistics, Sansui's, Sony TC's, TandBergs, Teacs, Telefunkens, etc. We have gotten some fine recordings using this tape, and due to the extreme 'retention' of high bias tape some times it is difficult to erase. These always seem to erase fine.

Most are at least 1800 feet and some with leaders intact and may or may not include individual box (often do). Most have been used and will have recordings on them.
Boxes and / or reels may have extraneous labels and / or marking on them. Reels may have blemishes / nicotine staining / dust etc. You will need to come up with your own labels as even if they are in the box, they likely aren't "sticky" anymore. Due to unpredictability of stocks we cannot "cherry pick" brands so they are always assorted. Plastic reels may be clear or black. Will work on any 'head format', meaning 'quarter track', 'half-track', 'full-track', '4-track / '8-track' / 'multi-track', stereo or mono tape recorders / decks. Use a bulk eraser or will simply erase when new recordings are made on your deck (assuming your 'erase' is functioning).

HEY, WHY ALL THE 'X'd' OUT / OMITTED SPECS AND TEXT?

Yes, we know, EVERYTHING (at least all the receivers) are  OUT
currently.
We will be posting more in the future.
We are currently focusing resources on expanding our receiver 'Parts Department' AND 'refurbished' stereo receivers sell faster than we can get them refurbished, and it's a slow process getting them ready.
