have completely gone through this unit, cleaning inside and out
including all contacts, switches and controls. Switches now clean
sounding and performing solidly. New VU meter lamp
installed. Output
section bias / DC offset adjusted.
Fresh heat-sink compound applied to all 4 output
transistors. All 5 internal fuses checked and had contact burnished.
Entire unit cleaned inside and out. All functions tested for
perfect operation. All inputs tested and both side produces clean and
even sine waves! No power supply hum of any kind. It's dead silent! Unit
looks great with only normal, minor wear
(a few small scuffs to the vol knob and face edges, but nothing
distracting).
Great looking brushed aluminum face plate or the original aluminum
knobs.

kind. It's dead silent! Unit looks great with only a
couple of minor tics / scuffs along the every top and bottom, face edge
(see photos above). Great looking
brushed aluminum face plate with the original aluminum knobs. Following
restoration procedures, the unit was ran continuously at medium volume,
as all our amplifier / receivers are, into a 4 Ohm load with "Loudness" on and
both Tone Controls at 10 for 48 hours.
While this amp was
originally rated at 50 WPC, on our test bench the internal amplifiers of
this particular unit, #...1974, produced
24 Volts per channel
at 8 Ohms for 72 Watts per channel and 20
Volts at 4 Ohms for 100
Watts per channel via discrete, TO-3, metal cased outputs (2x
Sanken 2SA980 & 2x 2SC2260)
Idle current draw 0.6A.
DC out measured at <35mV on either side.
Very quiet with Floor noise measured at >-60dBm

Most importantly, the tech re-flowed all the I/O
jacks, especially the Phono input for trouble-free connection
integrity. Unit looks
like NEW! All functions tested for perfect operation. All inputs
tested and both side produces clean and even sine waves! No power
supply hum of any kind. It's dead silent! Also,
check the specs on this pre-amp against other Kenwood models. It's
TEN times less THD with 30 more max mV input allowance than the last
one we had!!! Rest of the specs are equally impressive.
Again,
we have completely gone through it cleaning all pots, contacts and
switches and all functions test perfectly....
. Unit
looks NEW and sounds great! While it is 'remote
capable', we do not have the remote available. Comes with a
copy of the owners / users manual. Unit measures 16.5" wide x 3.25"
tall x 11" deep and weighs 7 lbs unpacked. Comes with a
