 Great sounding, looking and performing, Sansui 3-way speaker system.  I have a bit of a "bias" towards these as I sold early versions at the first hi-fi dealer I worked for in the early 80's. Great balanced sound, nice punchy bottom end. Very efficient and bright where they need to be. Great speaker where mid to higher volumes are desired. Our speaker tech has completely gone through and 'Certified' these. We just replaced the woofer surrounds with fresh foam. Cosmetically the only issue is some small dents around the edge of one of the mid dust caps (cosmetics only. see lower photo above).
We have completely tested them with both recorded material, PN 20-20k and swept them with our AF generator.

 Again, both woofers have fresh, new foam surrounds installed and we have completely tested all drivers. Tested for all frequencies with a sweep generator. Wood grain vinyl wrapped cabinets in great condition as are the original knit, dark navy grills!  Great "all around" sound and get very loud! Each measures 31.5" high x 15.25" wide x 11.5" deep and weighs 38 lbs each. Includes our standard 90 day speaker warranty (excluding problems due to under / over powering).

We also cleaned and burnished the contacts on the, 'always oxidized on vintage speakers', attenuators for distortion / drop-out free performance. Our speaker tech also removed all the drivers, and as on most of our refurbished speakers, he added gasket material under all drivers that were not already adequately sealed and seated, and the rear panel to eliminate any resonance and further seal cabinet. Speakers were completely 'detailed' inside and out. Cabinets received a coat of 'Restore-a-Finish' and a coat of 'Feed-n-Wax' to bring out their original luster. Grills were cleaned with brushes and compressed air and look great. No breaks to the original 'Kumiko' lattice work. Next, as always they were tested with both recorded material, PN 20-20k and swept them with our AF generator from 20-3kHz. Then came our......

Then came our standard, 'issue exposing' and on some levels, 'abusive' test recordings. These speakers are ready to go!

 We auditioned this pair extensively and the delivered very well. Additionally adding the 'gasketing' really 'tightened' up the cabinets and cleaned up the bass response.

Our demo cuts included the following; Dire Straits' "So Far Away" from their album 'Brothers in Arms' album,
Donald Fagens, "I.G.Y." from the album "Night Fly" (solid / snappy reproduction. Fabulous all around), '24K Gold Edition of Jennifer Waren's "Famous Blue Raincoat' (the saxophone very 'up-front'. Fretless bass was natural. Her vocals were natural and open'),
TLC's "Scrub" from their album 'Fan Mail' (did 'sub-bass' note @ 1'25" & 1'35" VERY well),
YAZ" "was Punchy, snappy and solid"
Allison Kraus and Union Station's "Baby, Now That I've Found You" (upfront and natural. Vocals very 'open'. 3-D sound stage. Acoustic guitar balanced well with un-restrained 'low-end'),
Cowboy Junkies ‘Sweet Jane’ (VERY open’/ live thru these speakers),
Don Williams' DDD version of 'Country Boy' (good, 3-D soundstage),
Calvin Hampton's, "The Wedding March" from "Digital Pipes, The Splendor of the Organ", a digital recording of a cathedral pipe organ (open, with 'natural low-end and good top-end!),
Nickel Creeks’ “When in Rome” from their CD "Why Must the Fire Die?" (was a BIG, open and up-front),
and a few others, all digitally recorded and some 'DDD'.
Surprising power handling characteristics for a speaker this stature (vintage / system intention). They are able to handle "power" MUCH better  than your average speaker. Not simply referring to their wattage rating, but just the way they perform at higher power / volume levels without "falling apart" sonically. We 'stood' on them fairly strong with our test Hafler 500 Watt power amplifier. 'Solid', punchy and 'tight' low-end, with no 'mush'.

Again, as stated above, our speaker tech has completely done his 'magic' on these (as we do all speakers). Fabulous looking "Real Walnut Wood Veneer" cabinets with virtually no cosmetic wear. Original real wood lattice grills in great shape and structurally sound with no cracked, broken or missing lattice. Both 'Sansui' logos / badges intact. Also features a 'True', 3-way cross-over for super clean response especially in the "low end". Both look and sound GREAT! Huge, accurate and loud sound. These speakers are especially great for clean Acoustic and Electric guitar music, such as John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola, Paco De Lucia, "Friday Night in San Francisco" recording. Another great try on these are any of the "Jack Johnson" recordings. Exceptional combination! Each measures 26" tall x 15" wide x 12.5" deep and weighs 47 lbs unpacked. Great sounding, classic Lattice grill Sansui SP-2500 speakers. The little brothers to the famous and elusive SP-5500's.
Our speaker tech has completely gone through and 'Certified' these. We have completely tested all drivers. All drivers were removed and reinstalled into cabinet with ‘added’ gasketing material under their frames to further reduce any possibilities of vibration or acoustic anomalies. The same operation was done to the rear cabinet panel and the 'Tweeter Cluster' plate. Both Mid and Top End attenuators had there contacts burnished and were cleaned internally. Next, as always they were tested with both recorded material, PN 20-20k and swept them with our AF generator from 20-3kHz. Then came our standard, 'abusive' test recordings. These speakers are ready to go!

We auditioned this pair well. Following the above mentioned 'barrage', our demo cuts ran the gamut from Dire Straits, 'Brothers in Arms', TLC 'Fan Mail', Allison Kraus and Union Station, Nickelback, a digital recording of a cathedral pipe organ, and a few others, all digitally recorded and some 'DDD'.

 Great 'all around' speaker for that vintage stereo system. Efficient enough to make lower power units sound 'BIG', but tough enough to handle larger power amps.
 This is probably our 14th pair in 15 years.

    Gorgeous "Real Wood" cabinets as well as real wood lattice grills. These lattice grills are hand carved, featuring "Kumiko" fretwork, like other Sansui speaker grills. The difference with these are that they are curved which provides better diffusion of sound.....

We have completely disassembled them, testing all drivers independently, then re-assembled. During reassembly we added gasket / sealant to all driver mounting flanges and the rear cabinet panel to really 'solidify' their sound. Believe me, it makes a HUGE difference. We then tested with both recorded material, PN 20-20k and swept them with our AF generator from....

HUGE, VERY impressive and rare Sansui SP-3500 Hi-Fi speakers. 2nd from the top of the line for that time period and many folks, including us believe this was from the best series Sansui ever offered (this series includes also the SP-2500 and SP-5500).
Our speaker tech has completely gone through and 'certified' these. All drivers were removed and tested independently. The woofers had their original, cloth roll suspensions, re-adhered. They were then reinstalled into cabinet with ‘added’ gasketing material under their frames to improve air seal, and to further reduce any possibilities of vibration or acoustic anomalies. 'High' and 'Mid' Attenuators have been removed, burnished, and cleaned for static-free performance. Next, as always they were tested with both recorded material, PN 20-20k and swept them with our AF generator from 20-10kHz. Then came our standard, 'abusive' test recordings. Cabinets were cleaned, then finished with a fresh coat of lemon oil (which we recommend to be applied every 6 months to a year, to all ‘real wood veneer’ speakers).
Following the above work, these speakers are ready to go!
We auditioned this pair well. Following the above mentioned 'barrage', our demo cuts ran the gamut from Dire Straits, 'Brothers in Arms', TLC 'Fan Mail', Allison Kraus and Union Station, Nickelback, and a few others, all digitally recorded and some 'DDD'......

HUGE, VERY impressive and rare Sansui SP-5500 Hi-Fi speakers (no not the later, VERY MUCH SMALLER SP-5500X's. These are the ORIGINALS! These are the bigger brothers to the popular SP-2500's and SP-3500's, and only the third pair we've had in 17 years (actually the last 2 pair we had, both sold to people who already had one pair and wanted second pairs.

Again, these are MASSIVE speakers, and were the best Sansui did. Be aware, these things weigh about 107 lbs!!! VERY LOUD, punchy and accurate! Make your sound 'come alive'. Lot's of 'presence' and feature that 'Big Wall-O-Sound'! Cabinet finish is real Walnut wood veneer and is in EXCELLANT condition. The original lattice grills are hand carved, featuring 'Kumiko' fretwork, like other Sansui speaker grills and are in great shape, with virtually no wear and are solid with no breaks or chips. The difference with these are that they are curved which provides better diffusion of sound. As stated previously, our speaker tech has completely gone through these and 'certified' them. All drivers work and sound fine! Tested for all frequencies with a sweep generator. All drivers were removed and flexible gasket material installed to their mounting flanges to improve air seal and eliminate potential vibrations.  Our speaker tech has completely gone through and 'Certified' these. All drivers tested for basic function and replaced with original / OEM where necessary from our stock. All drivers were then tested with AF generator sweep, PN 20-20k and our standard, 'abusive' test recordings. All drivers were re-installed with the addition of gasketing material to further seal and eliminate any ‘flange to baffle’ rattles and buzzes. In those processes, we also found a few bad ‘hurricane’ nuts that warranted replacement. Attenuators 'PAINSTAKINGLY' removed and cleaned for .....

 These speakers are in very good cosmetic shape. With the exception of a couple of small, numerous 'finish peels' and other minor dings, the vinyl wood grain finish cabinets look decent with a few scuffs on the tops of the cabs (see above photos). The original wood lattice grills have near perfect fretwork and the backing cloth is original and intact. All locating pins in fine, working shape.
 Again, we have completely gone through these speakers, including sweeping them with an audio generator from 2k down to 5Hz looking for any acoustical anomalies or extraneous noises or sounds....

Great sounding, classic, & HUGE Sansui SP-X7900 stereo speakers.  These are ......
 4-Way, 5-Driver, 'Bass Reflex' design. These are VERY efficient speakers with above average tone balance for late '70's / early 80's speakers. Super wide frequency response from XXXXXXXHz! Plenty of top end that can be filtered / tailored to your tastes with built-in attenuator or external EQ / tone control. Huge sounding due to a 16" "Vented' woofer sunk into the....
 They also seem to be able to ...
but no serious breaks or missing lattice and one is missing the 'Sansui' logo plate (see lower photos above).

One horn tweeter was replaced with a sourced 'original' then all drivers were re-assembled into cabinet with ‘added’ gasketing material under all driver frames to further reduce any possibilities of vibration or acoustic anomalies. Next, as always they were tested with both recorded material, PN 20-20k and swept them with our AF generator from 20-3kHz. Then came our standard, 'abusive' test recordings (we even removed, unsoldered and independently tested each of the 6 super tweeters). Attenuators removed and cleaned. These speakers are ready to go!

We auditioned this pair well. Following the above mentioned 'barrage', our demo cuts ran the gamut from Dire Straits, 'Brothers in Arms', TLC 'Fan Mail', Allison Kraus and Union Station, Nickelback, a digital recording of a cathedral pipe organ, and a few others, all digitally recorded and some 'DDD'.
Incredible power handling characteristics. They are able to handle "power" better MUCH than your average speaker. Not simply referring to they're wattage rating, but just the way the perform at higher power / volume levels without "falling apart" sonically. We 'stood' on them HARD with our test Hafler 225 watt power amp. Great 'balance' and reproductive detail. 'Solid', punchy and 'tight' low-end, with no 'mush'. Among the top performers of the many speakers from Japan, we have auditioned over the years. These are in excellent condition as well.
