8mm Film Projectors - Archive Units


We fully test each projector offered for sale. We use film that is in good shape, with sprocket holes that are not worn. Each projector is checked for belt / drive condition, frame sync, lamp(s) condition, switching condition, focus, Sound quality (where applicable), AC safety, excess transport noise and overall function. Each is cleaned and lubed where necessary. Projector should be "ready to go" when you receive it, however film projectors are complicated machines and film can be very fragile, especially older film (and most of it is). Always check your films sprocket holes for quality. Worn sprocket holes will cause problems when playing back. The problems may only last a frame or can last seconds. Also double check the loading and always go slow as that is when most problems happen. While our projectors are warranted for their basic function, we cannot guarantee that you will always get glitch free viewing and that films will not break and be "eaten", especially during the loading process. I doesn't happen often, in fact rarely, but we all remember watching school films and the teacher having to stop and splice, rewind or further adjust the film and projector to continue.

Internal worm gear, main drive mechanism was completely cleaned of old lube and re-lubed with silicon gel, as well as both nylon gears. A fresh, new main drive belt was installed. Reel hub drive belt reconditioned and has great tension. We then modified it by adding 'external' variable Speed controls to eliminate 'flicker' / strobe effect when doing film to video transfers. Film gate cleaned as well as track. We also, very importantly, cleaned the internal 'record' switch to eliminate playback static. Auto-load mechanism works well when used correctly. Lens is clean with no cloudiness, fungus or loose elements. We then checked out all functions and made any necessary adjustments and extensively tested Super 8 sound film. Unit loads, runs both forward and reverse very smoothly with great precision. No clunky-ness. Great for doing film to video transfers since it has a nice, sharp lens and variable speed. B&H, 21DCR film projector. A Super-8mm, magnetic sound movie projector that we've modified for variable speed! (See above photo) Features: *- Super 8mm Sound...* HEY, WHY ALL THE 'X'd' (...) To be specific, we removed all 'non-clutch' gears, cleaned and re-lubed, both main 'drive rollers' and their associated bracket assembly, removed, cleaned and re-lubed. While the rollers were removed, we reconditioned the rubber tires. We cleaned and lubricated the 'shutter assembly', the 'shuttle' and it's 'drive cam and pinion' and cleaned the 'shutter flywheel' for improved traction with the drive wheels. Both arm / hub mechanisms disassembled, gears cleaned of old lube and re-lubricated. Lens track mechanism cleaned. Lens is in great, and clear condition with no scratches, fogging, or internal mold. Lens cleaned front and back as well. We also cleaned and checked the eccentric framer mechanism. Film gate cleaned as well as film track. Following mechanical work, entire unit was cosmetically detailed inside and out... HEY, WHY ALL THE 'X'd' (...) OUT / OMITTED SPECS AND TEXT? ...Again, We have completely checked out all functions and made any necessary adjustments and lubed drive assembly where applicable. New main drive belt installed. CIRCA ~ 1939 SOLD TO MARC IN THE NETHERLANDS 5/10/12 This is a great looking "Antique" 8mm film projector by Keystone. The model "C-18" is likely from the WWII era. (Sometimes referred to as 'Reel to Reel Film' projectors). As it is only a Regular-8mm projector, and is so early, we did not do any restoration on it and are currently selling it for display / prop use in 'as-found' condition. While this is in "As-Found" condition, we did fire it up and the motor runs well (not with the lamp on the entire time so as not to deduct from it's remaining life, but the bulb is currently working). It plays forward with or without the lamp fine. When running it is very precision sounding, and quiet. Both original 'spring' belts in great shape with good tension (this projector actually only uses one belt and it is designed to have the belt moved to either the forward or reverse pulley, depending on which direction you need to go). Now we realize that it has old lubes inside that should likely be cleaned out and replaced, but it is surprisingly "spry" for a 70+ year old projector. Could potentially work fine for many more years without doing anything to it. Even the original AC cord is still supple and not cracking apart (we have removed the plug, to encourage restoration prior to use). Utilizes, CLS 120 volt, 300 watt projection bulb / lamp (can utilize other lamps as well, such as a CMV bulb). Base has built-in "Tilt" adjustment. One installed prior to shipment. Front adjustment foot allows for ~1.5" of height angle adjustment. Very well built all metal construction. We have completely gone through this projector. It was approximately 70% disassembled internally for restoration, including both reel arms and their internal transmissions. Both hub drive clutches had the shafts pulled, cleaned and re-lubed (prior to that they are almost always frozen due to "varnished" lube). This particular model utilizes very smartly designed clutches which is about the best design and virtually trouble-free with their fresh cleaning and lube. Motor bushings lubed. Surface of the shutter wheel cleaned of old rubber residue. Both drive chains removed, 'soak' cleaned and re-lubed w/ silicone grease. We also disassembled both reel arms completely, removed, cleaned and re-lubed all 6 arm gears. All main drive chain gears cleaned and re-lubed. We checked out all functions and made any necessary adjustments and lubed internal drive assembly including all internal 'worm' drive gears with silicon lube. New main, cloth drive drive belt ordered and installed. New & fresh shutter flywheel belt installed. Balance of projector is "chain drive" with no rubber parts to fail. The motor in this unit does not utilize a... HEY, WHY ALL THE 'X'd' (...) OUT / OMITTED SPECS AND TEXT? ...Again, this unit had extensive restoration (about 8 hours) and came out GREAT!!! This unit is ready to go. Looks decent, with minor finish scuffs and works great! This would be a good "work horse" for a film transfer house. (NOT WORTH OUR RESTORATION TIME)	NEW ADDITION 6/18/10 FUNCTIONING / "As-Found" KODAK INSTAMATIC M65A "DUAL-8" PLAYS STANDARD & SUPER 8mm SILENT FILM PROJECTOR SOLD 12/2/11 NORMALLY, all of our film projectors are restored to a condition that they should work for the 'long haul'. We made an exception on this one at this point, due to it having a film / reel capacity of only 200 feet / 5" diameter. This drastically reduces it's potential market. We have ran a couple reels of each regular 8mm and Super-8mm film through it (with the lamp removed to conserve lamp life). It ran those reels perfectly well. It is an 'Auto-Load' unit that loads well. The belt seemed to be reliable upon initial observation. We did not open the unit further than allowing access to the lamp. Utilizes model DJL / DFN / DFC / DFG / DFA 120V / 150W projection bulb / lamp. Will play Regular & Super-8mm films. Will project at normal 18fps. Projects 'Forward' only and always with lamp 'ON'. Very easy to use and works well. Again, we have NOT restored this unit for the reasons mentioned above, but are offering it at 2 different price levels. As-Is / As-Found, but functioning or with our normal restoration. Looks and currently projects film well! Comes with 1, permanently attached, 200' / 5" take-up reel, 1 reel hub adaptor for your Super 8mm reels, if you use them. Has original and working (prior to shipping) lamp already installed. CIRCA 1945-47 SOLD TO MARC IN THE NETHERLANDS 5/10/12 This is a great looking "Antique" 8mm film projector by Revere. The model "85" and this one is just "post war" and dates from 1945. As it is only a Regular-8mm projector, and is so early, we did not do any restoration on it and are currently selling it for display / prop use with unknown condition. While this is in "As-Found" condition, we did fire it up and run a 200' reel of film through it (not with the lamp on the entire time so as not to deduct from it's remaining life). It plays forward with or with-out the lamp fine. The variable speed control has the most range we have ever seen on a projector going from VERY slow to VERY fast which would actually make this a good candidate for doing film to video transfers. When running it is very precision sounding, and quiet. Now we realize that it has old lubes inside that should likely be cleaned out and replaced, but it is surprisingly "spry" for a 60 year old projector. Could potentially work fine for many more years without doing anything to it. Even the original AC cord is still supple and not cracking apart. Lens specs as follows: f:1.6, 1 inch and is clear. Utilizes model CZX, 120 volt, 500 watt projection lamp. Base has built-in "Tilt" adjustment. Very well built metal construction. Looks great! Great for doing Super 8mm film to video transfers as it has variable speed and the speed on this one is adjustable over a VERY wide range! Comes with original, lamp installed, a copy of the users manual and it's original case. This particular model utilizes very smartly designed clutches which is about the best design and virtually trouble-free with their fresh cleaning and lube. Motor disassembled, cleaned and bushings lubed. Main drive belt and both hub drive belts replaced with new. The main drive worm / cog gears cleaned and re-lubed. We checked out all functions and made any necessary adjustments. Only minor issue with unit is that when 'rewinding' longer films, it get's a bit sluggish towards the end and may need to be 'helped' along with larger reels (fairly common issue with a variety of machines, regardless of restoration). See 'Copyright Information' page for details)	**NEW LISTING 11/27/18** (click on above thumbnails to enlarge photos) warranty FULLY SERVICED / REFURBISHED AND READY TO GO WARDS 8mm FILM / MOVIE PROJECTOR TRI-8 (REGULAR-8mm / SUPER-8mm / SINGLE-8mm) FILM PROJECTOR MODEL WARDS 812 SILENT VARIABLE SPEED & ZOOM LENS SEMI-AUTO LOADING #...9580 MADE IN JAPAN SOLD 1/23/19 SHIPPING TO ARTHUR IN VIRGINIA � Our technician has completely gone through and 'Certified' this unit. � We have completely and extensively gone through the mechanicals and electrics of this projector. � It was disassembled internally for restoration including the drive motor for re-lubing. � Motor commutator gaps cleaned, and plates burnished � Main drive belt replaced with new. � Hub drive chains cleaned and re-lubed w/ synthetic grease � The main drive worm / cog gears cleaned and re-lubed. � Speed rheostat control limits 're-positioned' to move speed range 'up' to more useable range than stock, especially for film to video transfers � We checked out all functions and made any necessary adjustments. There are no rubber drive tires / wheels to crack, glaze or deteriorate, so no need to worry about one failing down the road. � Take-Up reel clutch tension adjusted to not allow film to 'spill' during PB, but to allow Fast Forward or Re-Wind (while 'OUT' of 'film path') you'll want to have your left hand ready as a 'reel brake' if you stop rewinding 'mid-stream'. Should service be required in the future (probably not for quite a few years), this unit is designed to be very 'serviceable'. Speed control is via the built-in rheostat. A very durable design. Again, this unit had extensive restoration (about 5 hours) and came out GREAT!!! VERY WELL BUILT, metal construction, Japanese made, Wards 812, Dual-8mm movie film / cine projector. This is a very well designed projector, that in 'hindsight', was built to last. Since it has variable speed (widely ranging), and a zoom-lens it is well suited for doing 'film to video transfers'. Original Japanese made, Zoom Lens; specs F1:1.4 w/ 20-32mm zoom range. Lens is 'cloud free', clean and is quality enough to project a crisp, clean, clear and focused image. Projector will play forwards or backwards (no still and film must 'play thru to end' to enable 'fast wind' mode). Has frame-adjust lever for fine tuning frame position. Utilizes model KP-GT/CXL/CXR 8V/50W projection lamp (Fresh one installed prior to shipment). Wards 812 Projector Features: - Regular / Standard 8mm / Single 8mm, silent film Projector - Electric (non-mechanical!),Variable Speed - 'Semi-Auto / Manual Loading' (that works great) - Zoom Lens - F=/1.4, Zoom 20-32mm - Forward or Reverse Projection - Frame Adjustor - Can be run without lamp (useful for 'playing out reel' without burning lamp life) - Accommodates up to 400' reels - KP-GT/CXL/CXR 8V/50W Bulb - 'Take-up' Reel included - Built-in Film Trimmer - Adjustable 'Front Tilt / Angle' Foot - 'Swing-Out' gate plates for easy film gate cleaning - All metal housing - High Power, cooling fan protects and prolongs film life as well as venting lamp heat away - Semi �WORLD AC POWER"� as it will work on both 50 or 60 Hz AC. Front adjustment foot allows for ~1.5" of height angle adjustment. Very well built, 'all metal' construction. Again, following the above service / restoration, this unit is ready to go. Looks and works great! This would be a good "work horse" for a film transfer house. This one includes the original lid, both sets of film sprockets, and a take-up reel. Comes an good / working projection lamp / bulb. Also includes our standard 30 day limited warranty (excluding lamps / bulbs). Measures 11" wide x 6" deep x 10" tall (with film arms folded and lid removed) and weighs ~13 lbs unpacked. Film shown in photos not included.
